This is a perfect replacement for the original cheap DVI cable I had. This cable is providing superior video quality. Great price and quality construction.
The cable is thick and ferrite choke is large (1.25" diameter). I bought this to replace the cable that came with my QNIX monitor to see if it would improve the overclock. Benefit seemed marginal, if even present increased overclock by 2 hz. It is transmitting 2560x1440 at 109hz without problem despite the cable being surrounded by multiple power, ethernet, etc. cables. The gauge makes it a little less flexible, which reduces the effective length if you don't have straight path between DVI ports. The only potential problem is the lock screws don't reach the nuts on the QNIX, which has led to the cable not being securely connected to the monitor however, it locks fine with video card, so this may be problem with monitor instead of cable.
I have never had any problems with purchases from Monoprice. That said, I will assume that this cable works flawlessly. However, the cable is very thick and inflexible did not work for my home office set up. The head was so large you would have to have tiny hands to screw it into the back of some monitors. Those two double entendres are free, you're welcome.
PROS: Monoprice stuff just works, I'm assuming this is no exception.
CONS: Thick, inflexible cable with connectors almost twice the size of an Amazon Basics cable.
Too Thick, inflexible, very difficult to tighten down.
I needed 3 feet DVI cables to go from a desktop switchbox to two monitors. When browsing I chose the 24AWG cables over the 28AWG without really considering what that size difference would mean. I figured the 24AWG would be better. The tradeoff is not worth it. These cables are unforgiving and require both thumbscrews to be tightened all the way in order to have a chance at staying connected. I am pretty sure if I leave it connected to my monitor it will eventually rip the dvi connector out of the monitor. I don't know how much good this review will help people since for a $6 cable who bothers scouring reviews but in the event this saves somebody from making the same mistake I did then cool.
PROS: Probably resists interference the best
CONS: Inflexible and one of the most difficult to secure cables I have ever worked with.
Ferrite Core is about 1/2 the size of a roll of quarters.
I did not notice a difference in image quality between the 24 and the 28 AWG cables.
Did I mention that the ferrite core at each end is comically oversized?
Thank you for your review on PID 2685. I am truly sorry to hear this DVI-D cable is not working out well for your application. Regarding cable gauges, we mainly recommend using 24AWG over 28AWG when using the cables for a longer run (over 10ft) or when there is a switch, splitter, extender, or A/V receiver in the setup. Those uses can put a greater load on the signal passing through and may create handshaking issues. The thicker 24AWG would help compensate for this by lowering signal resistance. Just in case, for a 3ft 28AWG DVI-D cable, please see PID 2407 at the following URL:

PROS: Works
CONS: Extremely heavy duty, at 3 foot length it is not flexible enough to bend around your monitor and sit on your desk. This cable is a half inch thick! Which the technician had told me this when I inquired about this cable vs the 28 gauge, he just said it would be a better cable. Wasn't worth the postage to return and reorder.
wanted to set a switch on top of main computer to connect 2 computers to one monitor, not flexible enough to make tight turn as it would be putting a strain on connector it's plugged into. Had to buy another 6 foot cable to make it work.
PROS: Ok, it's a well built cable and works without problems
CONS: not very flexible, ok if connecting something back to back or 90 degree angle.
Although the cable length is listed as "3 feet," it is not possible to connect units that are more than 2 feet apart. The "3 feet" includes (2.5" x 2) for the two plugs, another (2" x 2) the two unflexing cable lengths between the plugs and the ferrite cores, and another (1.5" x 2) for the ferrite cores themselves. As a result, the cable itself is only 2" long.
If you have multiple displays, it is very likely that at least one of them will require a cable longer than this "3 foot" one.
The back of my monitor was only about 2' from the back of my computer tower yet this 3' cable would not fit because it is so heavy and inflexible that when I tried to curve it into a shallow U shape it wouldn't stay and it actually pulled my monitor sideways trying to return to its original straight alignment. Longer lengths probably wouldn't be any more flexible but this length was impossible to use for my situation. It is a very good cable, I just ordered another from them with smaller wire sizes.
PROS: Extremely heavy duty, stiff, wear resistant cable
CONS: Cable is so heavily built that it is inflexible at this length
I would and have bought these cables again and again. The quality and the price leaves them in a category that is second to none.
PROS: The Cables are of great quality and can easily survive the rough environment I put them through in order to test my DUT. They can take heat up to 85C, cold as low as -45C and vibration.
CONS: Even though each cable is made correctly, it seems that different lines or shifts or something arranges the wire colors differently from cable to cable. This is not a problem for 99.99% of people who buy these cables.
