I bought this for use as a convenient source switcher and it didn't work
I don't think I should rate this, just because I don't want to skew the rating of its effectiveness as a splitter (haven't used it to do that).
I bought it because I read that it was, for all intents and purposes, analog (as opposed to digital) and I wanted to plug in two DVI sources to the double-connector end, and swap devices, leaving the long cables and dongles plugged in.
I'd venture to guess the splitting capabilities of this device are functional, but my approach to hot-swapping (this device was not designed for that) didn't work.
What did happen: I plugged my 2009 MacBook into an Apple Studio Display with the splitter inbetween them, as well as another cable in the other jack of the splitter, and I could see two of my intended image (MacBook screen) vertically stacked with heavy color interference. There were some colorful points but it was mostly gray and staticky. If I had to guess, I might think the MacBook was telling the display it was good to go, and turn on, but that background radiation caused the second cable attached to the splitter to become an antenna, and interfered with the video signal that way.
I'll attach pictures of the monitor with interference and the cable setup I had at the time. Keep in mind that the MacBook was plugged in, but the described "Windows computer" in the diagram was not attached, just the HDMI cable to it.
I bought this thinking I might be able to split a connection between my desktop and docking station so I wont have to constantly move between the two cables on my 1-DVI port monitor. Unfortunately it seems there's a ton of signal lost and noise when I have it connected, the image from the desktop is fragmented with multicolored pixels everywhere. This is without an active connection on DVI-2.
Thank you for providing feedback. Sorry to hear about the issues you are having with our product. However, this would be a splitter only, it would be intended to connect one input to two monitors. For your setup, I would recommend a DVI switch. Such as Product # 4069. We do offer a 30 day return policy. If you would like to see what options are available for you, please feel free to E-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Mono y Mono
This is a Super Splitter patch for dualing DVI sources or dualing monitors. 1 Mono quality, as intended, as expected Mono price, and quick delivery!1!
Connected the DVI splitter to my graphics card (GEFORCE 8800 GT) on my 2008 Mac Pro, and immediately the computer freezes. Tried using it with only one monitor connected to it, same thing, freezes. Tried it with both, one monitor on DVI and one via a HDMI adapter, freezes again. My goal was to have a main monitor and a review monitor which would be cloned to a TV using a HDMI adapter connected to the DVI splitter, but no luck. Either this is a defective device or something else is bugging...
Seemed simple enough...but splitter didn't split. After placing my order, I read the reviews and realized that this splitter was unreliable for outputting to a monitor and a TV. I connected upon receipt and as reviewed by many others, it did not work.
Tried to come out of a Mac Pro to 2 identical Cinema Displays and got nothing. The computer won't even recognize a monitor attached to that port. Luckily it was cheap so I'll just shelve it for another day and set up. It was worth the gamble.
Thank you for your review and my apologies for the issues you have experienced with PID 2518. Unfortunately, it sounds like you may have received a defective product. Now if you'd like, I can help setup an RMA for a Return. If you would like me to proceed with the RMA, just let me know and I can get it started right away. Sorry again for the trouble and hope this helps!
