Is there any noticeable coil whine while this unit is plugged into wall power? How about while it is charging devices? (Reviews of the Nekteck TC-AC-60W on Amazon suggest that coil whine is quite audible; this product looks to be exactly the same.) How does it sound?
Sean L

BEST ANSWER: It definitely has a high pitched whine when it is charging my Asus Chromebook C302C via USB-C. The whine varies depending on how charged the Chromebook is. Note: I am almost 50, so I suspect the whine will be more noticeable the younger you are as it is very high pitched.
During non-USB-C charging I have not noticed the whine although it may be present but much quieter.

I have 4 of these, and I am sensitive to coil whine. I haven't noticed these devices emitting any sound in 5 months of daily use. Using type C at on PD devices (Google Pixels, Samsung Galaxy Tabs, and Nintendo Switches), and type A at 2.1A on Apple iPhone 7S. No Type A 2.4A devices in use.

How do you know if it's charging or if it's fully charged? I don't see any indication at all. There is no manual in the box.
Ginero C
on Jun 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Based on the "fully charged" part, I think there is an assumption that this is a battery? It's not, it is a multi port USB charger, like the little charger that came with your phone, just with more ports. You plug it in to the wall and it charges things you plug in to it, it doesn't get "charged".
To see if it's charging something, you would check the device(s) that you have plugged in to it, e.g. The phone/tablet/headphones/etc.

How well does this work with the Nintendo Switch?
Brian S

BEST ANSWER: In my experiments, the only use case this charger is not fit for is getting the dock to output A/V signal while the Switch is docked.. However, it provides more than enough current to charge the Switch itself in handheld while still in heavy use. The MacBook Pro 13-inch comes with an 61W Power Adapter, and the MacBook Pro 15-inch touch bar model comes with an 87W Power Adapter. The 60W of output is more than enough for the 13-inch and the 15-inch will have enough charging power to still charge and work at the same time.

In my experience it powers my laptop through USB-C (the factory power brick is 45W on the laptop), and a phone, laptop and bluetooth headphones simultaneously. The way the specs read, however, is the max amp output on the 3 USB outputs is 2.4a total, which would divide that amperage to all 3 devices being charged. So if you wanted to plug in 3 iPhones or Galaxy S type devices (which like to have 2.1a for charging) it would only trickle charge each of them.
This is the best charging device I've come across though, I have 4 of them.

Really wish the description would simply state if the USB-A ports are 5V 2.4A each (simultaneously), or split. I'd like to know an "official" answer to that. I've seen a couple of questions about it answered as it being split between all 3, but that would mean having 3 USB devices connected at once would provide only 0.8A each. What good would that be?

Has anyone tried this with the Nintendo Switch HDMI Dock?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
We have not but the power adapter that comes with the Switch only uses about 36W of power so using it with a power adapter that uses 60 W of power would be enough.

Will this charge a Lenovo Yoga 920 with 4K screen? The OEM charger is only 45W and runs hot during usage and charging.

Great product, but make sure it fits your use case first.
Only bummer is I didn't realize that all three usb-a ports dont provide 12w of power if all three are used. But will charge two tablets/ipads at a time and a PD usb-c device.

Charges a laptop like it says it can.
Been using it to charge my HP Elitebook Dragonfly next to my nightstand. Works well so far, haven't plugged any lower power devices into the other ports but it's good to know they're there in case I want to charge a fitbit or some other lower power device but it does the job I got it to do.

Versatile and easy to use charger
Great for travel- one charger handles all the devices we would want to charge at one time. The cord is wonderful- makes it greAt for using on the sofa. Another great, affordable product from Monoprice!

Great power in a small box!
The high power output allowed my family to use 1 power outlet while on vacation on a cruise ship. All devices charged effectively and used the fast charging capability of the phones. Will use this as my go to desktop charger for day to day use.

Good Charger
Charged Apple watch, iPad 12, iPhone 12 at the same time it charged fast no issues. I like the extension card which makes plugging in easy for hard to reach sockets. Friend used it to charge Android phone and they were impressed

Best products for the money!
I have purchased many things from monoprice. None have let me down. This little charger does what it is suppose to do. I noticed it does get a little warm, but not a concern.

Great charger for the price
With the rise of USB-C PD, I've picked up several of these chargers from Monoprice to replace my old Monoprice USB-A chargers. I like that the PD port provides up to 60W, which is all I need for my laptops/tablets, and I still have three legacy USB ports to charge devices with less draw. Really handy to have around the house or for travel!
