Can this cable be used as a display cable? I have a Dell Inspirion 15" (7000 Series) and it has a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type C Port on the side with a Display port logo on it. Can this cable be used to connect to a second screen/monitor?
Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: Short answer - yes - no problem.
I'm currently using one of these cables to connect between an HP Elitebook and a Blackbird 4K 3-Port USB-C and HDMI 2.0 KVM Switch. The monitor the switch is connected to is a Samsung LS34J552WQNXZA-RB 34" Ultra Wide Quad HD Monitor.
Works great!

If your monitor has a USB-C input video port, it should work. That said, my new cable did not work and wouldn't carry the signal to my docking station. I had to revert to the shorter, original one.

I use it as such. I have a MacBook and a Dell u3818dw monitor. It works well amd I get to leverage the USB ports on the monitor as well.

Max supported wattage?
A shopper
on Oct 29, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Cable is listed as 3.0 amps. Usually, USB-C runs at 5 volts. Watts = amps x volts. So this would be 3 x 5 = 15 watts.
(USB-C can be designed to use up to 20 volts - that would be a special case)
(BTW, I just noticed this page incorrectly notes "Maximum Power = 3 amps" Amps is a measure of current, not power. Watts is a measure of power)

I use these cables with a 65w pd charger with no problem. I assume you could put more through it if necessary.

Will this work for the Oculus Quest 2?
A shopper

BEST ANSWER: If you’re just using it to charge the headset you should be fine. If you’re using it for Oculus Link you should spring for a Gen 2 cable. Probably 15+ ft as well so you can move around more freely.

Good cable but very large connections
The cable is well built and works as well as you'd expect. But the housing around the connections is very bulky and large. This might support the solid build but it makes it difficult to fit into some phone cases. I need to get something with a smaller profile for my phone but will use this for other applications.

Not for connecting a hard drive to a laptop
This cable is not made for connecting a hard drive to a computer. I needed a 6ft USB-C cable to connect my LaCaie hard drive to my MacBook Pro. This one did not work, the drive kept disconnecting.
I will say, no where in this description did it say it could connect a hard drive to a laptop, I was just hoping. So it probably works great for the intended use. But it will not work for connecting a HD to a laptop.

Good cable
The first cable I received was DOA (unable to read or write data). Monoprice promptly sent a replacement at no cost to me, and that one works perfectly. I was able to attain the rated speeds on an external USB 3.1 SSD rated for 550 MB/s read and 500 MB/s write.
