Has anyone gotten a battery percentage over zwave? I have it setup but battery is not one of the variables that is being sent out.

BEST ANSWER: I am running OpenHab2. Via the paperUI I found the Door/WIndow switch, "thing", and added it as an "item" and then edited which channels to show,. I choose "door sensor" and "battery level". If I then go to the "Control" UI, I see the status of the door switch and the battery level as a percentage. Works fine for me.

If you use it with a Samsung SmartThings Hub, the battery condition is frequently logged. Go to “My Home” > “Things” and select your Sensor (using whatever name you gave it).

BTW, the solution for me was to create a sensor to just display the battery attribute:
zwave_battery_door_front:
value_template: '{{ states.zwave.doorfront.attributes.battery_level|default(0) }}'
icon_template: >
{% set battery_level = states.zwave.doorfront.attributes.battery_level | default(0) | int %}
{% set battery_round = (battery_level / 10) |int * 10 %}
{% if battery_round >= 100 %}
mdi:battery
{% elif battery_round > 0 %}
mdi:battery-{{ battery_round }}
{% else %}
mdi:battery-alert
{% endif %}
friendly_name: Front Door
unit_of_measurement: "%"
zwave_battery_door_front:
value_template: '{{ states.zwave.doorfront.attributes.battery_level|default(0) }}'
icon_template: >
{% set battery_level = states.zwave.doorfront.attributes.battery_level | default(0) | int %}
{% set battery_round = (battery_level / 10) |int * 10 %}
{% if battery_round >= 100 %}
mdi:battery
{% elif battery_round > 0 %}
mdi:battery-{{ battery_round }}
{% else %}
mdi:battery-alert
{% endif %}
friendly_name: Front Door
unit_of_measurement: "%"
For Smart things the battery percentage shows up as soon as I click on the device.

Does this work with Nexia?

BEST ANSWER: I just added these to my Nexia without issue but I'm only getting Battery Status whenever I open or close the doors. This is across all 3 sensors, so it seems to sending in it's status but Nexia isn't able to recognize Open/Closed. Is Monoprice considering entering into a Certified status with Nexia? I may have to return the 3 sensors I purchased for something that works fully.

Monoprice Z-Wave Plus Door/Window Sensor, NO LOGO
BEST ANSWER: Mine has lasted through a Maine winter and a good part of this summer on the original batteries. During the winter, it regularly reported 30-40degree F temperatures, so the battery got good and cold. Of course, we weren’t opening and closed that door a lot over the winter, but I have not seen much effect this summer when we are opening and closing the door frequently.

For the doors that I open regularly (the one I use everyday entering/leaving), it's a bit under a year on the batteries that came with the device. For doors that get opened less regularly, the batteries will probably last about a year and a half. They don't seem to last nearly as long as some of the motion sensors that use CR123 batteries.

3) While the phone is searching for the device, press and hold the little black button for 3 seconds.

I figured it out, should have read the instruction first. It is not like other z-wave devices that you only need to push the button once for pairing/depairing. You need to click the button three times or hold the button for 3 seconds. Now it is working, just not showing battery status.
Thanks for this! I bought this for the IFTTT integration and it wasn't plug/play out the box!

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
According to what we can find the Brinks panel would not be Z-Wave compatible hub so this would not be able to communicate with it.

Not reliable - Do not recommend
I've had these sensors for one year now and giving it a review. Unfortunately, I received 2 good units and 2 bad ones. 2 of the sensors are reliable, haven't had any issue. The other two will freeze in open position even thought they're not. It's like they're connected to the network (show still there), but no activity. The only thing I can do is to hard reset the sensor / delete it and then add it again. I've done this several times to those two sensors. Given the price I would not recommend these sensors as they're not 100% reliable.

I purchased two of these to use with my SmartThings hub. The pairing process was painless, however SmartThings did not detect that these were door sensors and doesnt offer Monoprice as a brand to select during the device setup. It was only displaying battery level data from the sensors until I logged into the SmartThings Groovy IDE and modify the sensor type to a Z-Wave Plus Door/Window sensor.

Love these sensors so far!
Five stars so far. Integrated easily with Smartthings, works dependably so far ( only had them a week now).
I put two on standard swinging doors, mounted as usual on door and frame. One other, I made a mount for to use it as a tilting sensor for sensing garage door position.
I installed four of these contact sensors with new Duracell batteries, so when they go dead )hopefully next year sometime) Ill check back to rate them for battery life.

Waste of Money
I bought two of these about a year ago. They consistently drop off line. When they do work, they are unreliable. A door may show when it opens, but it will continue to show open after the door closes again.

Unreliable - waste of time
So the first one sometimes wouldn't register as closed every once in a while so I ordered a second and the behavior was the same. I experimented and basically they were both defective in that they sometimes do not register as closed even if a magnet is in place. They wasted a lot of time but ultimately the issue is they are not reliable. Find something else and don't waste your time!! IF a sensor works only 95% of the time that isn't ideal!!
