The adapter converts AC to DC, so if you have the right AC adapter, it should work.

"no driver installation needed on Windows® and Mac® systems." But is any special driver or other adaptation needed for linux?

BEST ANSWER: Mac is a unix-based OS, much like Linux distros. Your specific distro and version will determine compatibility. USB is a universal standard. I'm not a Linux expert, but if your Linux kernel supports USB 3.0, I don't see where you'd have a problem.

Are all 7 ports USB 3.0?
Robert S

BEST ANSWER: I've installed this hub connected to a USB 3.0 port on my iMac. Plugged into this hub are (1) A USB 3.0 LaCie external disk drive, and (2) An older Monoprice 7-port hub that has both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports.
According to the OS X System Report, this new 7-port hub is USB 3.0, as are the connected LaCie d2 Quadra external hard drive and the older Monoprice hub.

Does this support 4 amps of power, as I saw one reviewer saying it could only handle 2 A? I can't get the 4 amps myself, so I think this is misleading description. I am using voltage/amp meters on 4 ports for my testing. I find that when you add more than two 1 A devices, then it starts throttling down power to other ports.

BEST ANSWER: The adapter (male), or the power port on the USB hub (female)? On mine they are different diameters (Yes, the power adapter that came with the USB hub does NOT fit into the hub).

Either the power receptacle on the unit is way too small, or the plug on the supplied adapter (5V 4A) is way too big. Anybody know what gives?

Works fine
I've used it for just over a month and so far so good. Great value.

Broken ports
After 6 months, only three of the ports still work. The other four ports furthest from the power cord don't have any signal. No power, no data.

Works Great! But USB cable is too short!
It looks nice! It works great! BUT, the USB cable that connects to your desktop or laptop is WAY TOO SHORT! Its especially too short for connecting to a desktopin particular anyone who has a sit-stand desk. It could really use a 3- to 6ft cable. It would also be nice to be a able to turn the LED light on it off or on. It lights up the room at night.

Works Great
I have this plugged into an old all-in-one computer for the extra ports and have no problems at all. Works great.

Nice case, but some shortcomings
USB cable is too short for my liking. Some of the ports don't work on the one I got.

a couple design issues, but excellent value
PRO: Very solid, metal case. Reliable performance. Ports are configured for easy access, with enough space between them. Great price.
CON: Very short data cable (~12 inches); I needed an extension. Bare metal on bottom; I added some foam pads for more stability.
