Does this work good on tile floors?
A shopper
on Jan 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This works fairly well — I have tile, laminate, and rugs. It won't get everything on the first pass, though. I typically let it run for an hour or so and it does a fair job. You may have to run it on Edge mode and regular cleaning mode separately if you want everything picked up.
Some important things to remember when owning this or any other robotic vacuum:
CLEANING OUT THE BIN
Cleaning out the bin will reduce the cleaning time and suction efficiency, even though that's sort of a no-brainer. I ran it about three times and have a lot of pet/human hair to clean out before it can be as efficient as before. It will alert you with a voice to tell you it's time to clean it out. I've been lazy and just shimmied some furballs out with a pencil.
BRUSH ACCESSORIES
I am also trying out a Roomba alongside this and it has brushes already installed, which help a lot. This MP model comes with brushes as well, so that can also help swish particles in so they can be sucked up better on the first pass.
Overall, this is a great deal for the money. I paid a little over triple with the Roomba and while it's faster, that's not super necessary if you run this on a schedule when you're away. If you're having guests over in 20 minutes, I would just suggest getting a Bissell Crosswave to quickly sweep and mop your tile.

I've got mine running on wood, tile and carpet. It cleans them best in that order. Honestly not really that effective on carpet due to suction power, but does great on hard surfaces like wood and tile, especially for the price.

Yes it works really well on tile floors. You have to watch out for some rugs on the floors because it may move them around or get stuck on the edge of the rug. Otherwise it is excellent for tile floors and Hardwood floors too!

Our experience with our robot vacuum on tile floors has been fine. It is best at picking up “dust” and just ok with larger items. It can best be summed up “ it is entertaining and does an ok job with results.”

Is this able to clean a floor with multiple rooms? Bedrooms?

on Jan 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: yes this can clean multiple rooms and has no problem switching from hardwoods to carpeted rooms. If it us running for a long period of time and it needs to be charged it will find its way back to the docking station to charge. Also will tell you when suction passage needs to be cleaned which means the collecting basket inside needs to be emptied. it is full.

It easily cleans my 3 room apartment. Works best on hard floors. Does an OK job on removing dog fur from carpet. It has one of the biggest dust bin collectors than most small robotic vacuum cleaners. It struggles rolling over floor mats unless they're low profile. I love my little "DROID".

For what it's worth, it comes with an IR remote to "steer" it. I found the concept rather silly though. If I'm going burn my time by standing around to babysit the thing, why not get the regular vac out of the closet and be done with it?

I have hardwood floors with multiple oriental rugs; will this "climb" onto the rugs or just bump into them and avoid them?
A shopper
on Nov 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It 'climbs' onto my rugs, but the vacuum may cut out for a couple seconds while it orients itself with the drive wheels to get up on the rug. Does this pretty well. Only minor issue is that my larger rug has fringes....which the robot seems to think is excessive dirt, and will switch to spiral mode to focus around these fringes. I guess it's foreplay....she goes back to working the rest of the rug after I tell her it's just a fringe. I might have pushed her rear end a bit once or twice to leave my sensitive tassels alone, but it was in a totally non violent and respectful way. We're still enjoying each others company.

I hope Monoprice can offer the filters quickly, as it doesn't take long to get them filthy. I've been brushing mine out but I've just about used up the first filter as much as I could, and now have to start on my 2nd and final filter that came with it. The brushes are still OK but eventually I'll also be down to my last couple of brushes once these get too worn.

Where to buy replacement HIPPA filters and brushes I have bought 2 and filter seems to be very dirty?
Neeta A
on Feb 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Here's what I've been doing. I take the HEPA filter out before dumping the container to keep extra dirt from getting stuck in it. I hold it up to a light. If I cannot see through it, I switch it with the other HEPA filter (there were two in the box), and wash the dirty one with the sprayer on the kitchen sink. You may or may not want to brush it off before you wash it (I don't know if it matters or not), and washing it won't remove all of the dirt, but it helps a lot.
When you wash these things...wait 24-48 hours for it to dry completely before putting it into the vac. If you don't, the dust that gets on the wet filter will make it stink like gym socks.

I haven't had mine long enough to wash my filter but it says you can wash the filter. I got two sets of brushes with mine and they tend to get bent up into the bottom on the machine, I just flatten them as good as I can and set something really heavy on them for a few days and that tends to straighten them out. AND let me add this statement to the person that said if they put the filter in when still wet it would get smelling like gym socks, well around here it would start smelling like DOGS, I have two little ones.

Transitions easily from one flooring type to another. Pet hair, not so much. There are not brushes under the unit to bring the hair from carpet into the unit. The suction isn't really enough on carpet.

Can I disable audio prompts? Wakes me up in the middle of the night randomly telling me "Charging Complete"

This will happen multiple times between runs. My wife has been powering the unit down with the hard switch to avoid this repetitive voice prompt. BEST ANSWER: Mine does this as well- will say "Charging Complete," the display will read "FULL," then after a period of time, the display will scroll 1-1-1-1 and it will again say "Charging Complete" again. This will happen multiple times between runs. My wife has been powering the unit down with the hard switch to avoid this repetitive voice prompt. Hoping to find a solution- when charging is complete, that should be the end of it!

I saw no instructions on muting options, and i also get that loud voice hours later, telling me the charging is complete. I would recommend adjusting the time to clean in the morning, then once docked, you will hear the audible "charging complete" in the early evening.

BEST ANSWER: I received mine 4 days ago. So far I am impressed. I have it downstairs (open floor plan) cleaning carpet, hardwood and tile. I set it up to clean at 2am and so far every morning when I wake up it's sitting on the charger with a dust bin full of dust and debris. I have turned it on a couple of times while I was in the living room and 1 time it got stuck under an end table and another time It got stuck around some cords, but overall it does a great job and flows between floor types without issues. I can't compare this to other robovacs as it's my first, but I love it so far. Well worth the money.

Why won’t the vacuum won’t pick up fuzz off the carpet?
A shopper
on Dec 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Ours has the same problem. We suspect that since the brushes turn parallel to the floor (versus rotary and perpendicular in an upright vacuum) it tends to roll the fuzz rather than kick it up into the intake. Daughter has a higher end Roomba and it has similar problems with excess dog hair. It does tend to put it in nice little "rolls" or strands that are easy to pick up manually. =-/

How does this vacuum handle areas bigger than it can handle in a single charge? Will it resume from where it left off or simply go home at the end of it's charge?
A shopper
on Nov 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: After using this vacuum for about a week now it is clear that it cleans on a best effort basis. I bought this vacuum with no other expectations than that it cleans.
It has exceeded my expectations but won't compare to those big name brands. I have a small 900 sq ft house and it cleans normal household filth relative to its price. It gets hung up on occasion but otherwise does the trick. Doesn't clean as close as the competitors to walls, and definitely doesn't remember where it left off.
Definitely an entry level vacuum but totally worth the purchase!
Does my tiny 900 sq ft house in about ~35 minutes.

I don't set if free that often but it is nice to have
my living room (hardwood) often has shoes and random things around so I don't let it free as often as I probably should but it works well and only needs occasional cleaning/maintenance. it comes with appropriate spares and is easy to empty/refill. it finds its home back under the cupboard easily and without assistance.

Doesnt last!!
This worked great for about 3 months. After that it started getting stuck, under the edge of the chair, the corner of the cabinet, the edge of the rug, in between two chairs, etc.
If you have an empty room you want to use it in it would work great; however, this vaccum manages to get around for about 5 min before getting stuck.
IT'S NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!
I realize it is cheaper than most robot vacuums however, $100 is too high a price to pay for 3 more ths use!
It is now in the trash!!

Worked better on hardwood floors, not great on carpet. After less than a week of use it wouldn’t sense when it ran into something and just kept running into walls without turning. Then after restarting it would run into something, back up, and shut off.

Nice robovac
The machine works the way it's described. It's not very complicated and I didn't want or need anything complicated. It's used on my upper floor to control dog hair and dust and it excels. The sensor has never let it go over the edge of the steps and it's very comprehensive in it's coverage. It's not loud, but it isn't quiet either. Because it doesn't retain any kind of map, it necessarily bumps all around. That's probably the noisiest part because the sound of it running isn't that bad in and of itself. Still, it's not something I'd try running in the middle of the night while you sleep.Probably the main complaint I'd have is that there doesn't seem to be any way to turn off the audio prompts. I don't need it to tell me it's running because I can hear it and I don't care if it's started charging, again, because I can see it's either on its charging base or stuck on a cord I left out. Still, overall I'd recommend it for simple jobs.
