Does the base come off? I'm looking at this as an option for a camera rig so I can have a screen for the producer to watch. I'd be attaching it to a camera or a steadicam.

This wouldn’t be ideal as it requires line of sight to work. There’s also comments on here from others about not working through walls. Works great for my needs - wireless projector connection in living room.

It really depends on distance. Walls, ducting, windows and wiring all play a part in lowering that so if its 20 to 30 feet it should be fine.

Will this work on a 4k TV if not is there a wireless HDMI I can get that will work?

BEST ANSWER: 2018-12-26
Based on the above I recommend you do not buy the Blackbird Pro if you have or plan to purchase a new 4K UHD television.
The Blackbird Pro WIHD 60GHz Uncompressed Wireless Professional works well on older televisions but not with newer 4K UHD TVs which contain up-to-date Extended Display Identification Data (EDID). I shopped around and found another 60 GHz wireless HDMI system (DVDO Air 3C-Pro) which does have current EDID and for which the firmware can be updated by the user if necessary. Monoprice previously informed me the Blackbird Pro firmware cannot be updated.
EDID is a data structure provided by a digital display to describe its capabilities to a video source (eg. graphics card or set-top box). It is what enables a modern personal computer to know what kinds of monitors are connected to it.
Additionally, when I had a question the DVDO, customer support was absolutely first rate. My question about the product was answered to my complete satisfaction on the same day I submitted the query.

BEST ANSWER: 2018-08-20
Your issue with the Blackbird Pro WIHD and your new Samsung TV is likely related to outdated firmware on the Blackbird Pro. I had the same problem with a new Samsung TV, learned elsewhere it was due to Blackbird Pro old firmware, and was informed by Monoprice in early April 2018 the Blackbird Pro firmware cannot be updated.
The outdated firmware issue is probably related to Extended Display Identification Data (EDID). EDID is a data structure provided by a digital display to describe its capabilities to a video source (eg. graphics card or set-top box). It is what enables a modern personal computer to know what kinds of monitors are connected to it.
The Blackbird Pro WIHD 60GHz Uncompressed Wireless Professional works well on older televisions but not with newer 4K UHD TVs which contain up-to-date EDID. I shopped around and found another 60 GHz wireless HDMI system which did have current EDID and for which the firmware can be updated by the user if necessary.
Don't buy the Blackbird Pro if you have or plan to purchase a new 4K UHD television.

Curious how the model of TV could impact performance. From the perspective of the TV it should just be a dumb HDMI input.

Will this product work in an office environment with multiple pairs of devices in multiple meeting rooms?

BEST ANSWER: My experience with these is that it only works well with line of sight. I am not sure if they will work on multiple TV's (1 output and 2 receivers), but if they are not in the same room, I know for a fact they won't work because it is not line of sight. I will say though, they work very well on 1 device with line of sight. I use it to stream slides as well as movies. There is no lag. But again, once I move out of line of sight, they start giving me problems.

How many receivers can be connected to the transmitter?
A shopper
on Dec 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I just received my second transmitter/receiver pair, and tried to use two receivers with a single transmitter. With my limited testing, only a single receiver can be used per transmitter. Pressing the button on the receiver to try to get it to join the existing link does nothing, and pressing the button on the transmitter will switch the signal from the first receiver to the second receiver (first receiver goes black). If you want the same signal transmitted to multiple TVs, you would need either a single transmitter/receiver pair with an HDMI splitter/distribution amplifier at the receiving end, or a splitter/amplifier at the transmitting end to feed multiple transmitters/receiver pairs.

Is it common for the signal to keep cutting out?
I have installed it as instructed in the manual, and there's an unobstructed view between the receiver and the transmitter only about 15 feet in distance. The power supplies are both plugged into ac outlets, so it shouldn't be an issue of being underpowered.
I'm only using 5 foot long top quality high speed HDMI connections as instructed that meet the requirements specified in the instructions. I even tested and have tried using a combination of 5 or 6 different HDMI cables to see if it solved the issue.
Unfortunately, the signal keeps dropping out every 5 to 10 minutes. The video and audio cuts out for about 10 to 30 second intervals, and then resumes with a clear picture and the audio in sync. Only once have I had any trouble with getting a picture but no audio.
Any suggestions for fixing the constant signal intermittently cutting out?
Otherwise, the audio and picture quality look good. I just don't know if there's something defective with my specific unit, because I would be satisfied with the product if the signal didn't constantly drop. Otherwise, the results don't live up to what it says it will do because of the reliability issues even though I made sure the transmitter and receiver have an unobstructed view & the distance is well short of the maximum recommended distance.
Any way to fix this, or do I have a defective unit and need to return it for replacement that works properly or a refund to buy something else that will work?
Thanks!

I am transmitting a signal from a cable box to a projector in the same room. It's about a 20 foot shot with clear line of site. The signal works great, but it cuts out about every 5 minutes- and sometimes more frequently. Anyone know why this is or how I can fix it? The cable provider is Google Fiber.

I am currently using two of the Monoprice Blackbird Pro WiHD 60GHz Uncompressed Wireless Professional HDMI Extenders (https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=16049). Is it possible to also run one of these, or would they interefere with one another?

Blackbird Wireless
The product did not function as needed in in a partial line of sight application within the same room. The product appears to need full line of sight. Otherwise, it has good functionality and a nice configuration. Product was returned to Monoprice who provided a full refund of the purchase price. I like Monoprice and will continue to do business with the company.

No bueno.
Returned this. My living room is 18' across and simply walking between the transceivers broke the signal. Had to be clear line of sight for it to work, never mind the 90'/30m range advertised.

Great product for the $
Works as advertised. Very useful for anywhere you dont have a cable connection and you dont want to run long cables. Ours was for a 720-1080 tv. Not Ultra HD.

They just work
These work great. Used them in a conference room setting and had no issues getting them to run.

Works great
I use two of these in tandem with camcorders to transmit the live feed from the camcorders to my computer for recording. They work great, but they do have some quirks. First, make sure you use separate power cables for each. I tried plugging them into a usb hub, and they would not sync. When i plugged each directly into a separate wall plug, they worked fine. Also, it's important to keep line of sight to avoid the signal cutting out. You cannot use more than 2 of these at the same time, despite what the manual says. It would be great if 3 or more was supported, but I suspect I'm a rare use case.

Does not work
Bought two of these for conference rooms. They were very very very sporadic if they worked at all. Where I was testing I was within 18 feet clear line of site from transmitter to receiver. Went thru all the settings had sync but they just wouldn't work. Now I have to pay to ship a product back that is just not a good product.

Works great. LEDs are too bright.
The LEDs are similar in brightness to looking directly at the sun. A little bit of black tape fixed that right up.

Works with high throughput
Hooked it up to my Wii-U, which is approx 8 ft. away. Works great - hardly any lag, no artifacts, hardly ever cuts out. Haven't tested with any further distance. No obstructions in the way either, so can't comments on performance with things in the way.

Works great with my projector.
The wireless hdmi stopped working on my epson projector so I gave this a shot. Works great and sends a very clear picture. Love the fact its uncompressed so there is no lag.

it works
the only negative, is when someone walks between the 2 units while showing slides or movies, that person interrupts the signal
