I wish this was true but most of the z-wave devices I have purchased from monoprice do not work with my Wink (original version) controller. I just tried to add this 4 in 1 sensor using the generic "Zwave sensor" and it was not recognized. I blame wink, not Monoprice. I am able to configure under my Universal Devices ISY-994 hub.

I too, am trying to get this multi sensor to work with my Wink Hub 2. You should be very close to the Hub for pairing. Also, I am only getting temperature and humidity. While I will keep the device for these two features, I will not be buying more without motion and light detection working.

This only partly works with the Wink hub2. It can only detect the temperature and humidity. It can not detect motion or light. Install as a generic door device to get this bare bones functionality.

I'm using rechargeable batteries in my sensors and they all show a battery level of 0% all the time even though they are obviously working.
It seems the battery reading is obviously not calibrated with rechargeables in mind. Is there any way of changing this?
Who is the manufacturer, can they be contacted?

BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately we would not have a list of compatible Z-Wave hubs. I would recommend un-pairing then re-pairing the sensor to see if it will pick it up. If it does not show up it may just not be compatible with Wink.

Is there a SmartThings Device Handler in the works for this product? It currently does not report Lux/Light nor Humidity properly with any of the Aeon Labs or generic Device Handlers (as of 12.25.16). Thanks.

BEST ANSWER: UPDATE: this handler for smartthings seems to work much better: zooz-zse40-4-in-1-sensor I can not insert links here so you'll have to search github or google for appropriate groovy file.
steps to make it work:
1) install new handler from groovy file
2) assign new handler to multisensors via smartthings IDE
3) remove all sensors from 2) from smartthings(yes I had to do it otherwise sensors were not reporting motion)
4) re-assosiate sensors with smartthings hub - this time the hub will offer correct handler that was installed in 1) .

Once the handler is added for the device, do you need to re-associate the device for all of the sensors to work properly or will they work without removing & re-adding? Thanks for the info, by the way.
Thank you! I've been having issues with motion not reporting. I'll try these steps later this evening.

Anyone know how to do a factory reset on this unit?
A shopper
on Oct 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If it's not already paired, remove the batteries, plug them back in, and press the reset pinhole button on the bottom using a straightened paper clip. If already paired, you have to unpair (exclude) by putting your ZWave controller in Exclusion mode and pressing the reset pinhole button on the bottom. After this, the unit will blink multiple times each time you press the reset button. If it only blinks once, it thinks it's paired.

Has anyone used this with HomeSeer and, if so, how compatible is it?

BEST ANSWER: I just got one and it added to my Homeseer Z-wave network just fine. It adde six devices, 1 root device, 1 motion device, 1 temp device, 1 humidity device, 1 luminance device and 1 battery level device. All seems to be working. When I go to the root device and look at settings there's only one setting available directly from Homeseer and that is the "Wake-up Time". If you want to change any of the other device settings (LED Mode, etc.) you have to set the configuration parameters directly and I have been struggling a bit with that. I wanted to change the LED Operation Mode but can't seem to affect it as of yet. Can be kind of tricky sense you have to make sure you "wake it up" first before you try to read or write the settings. Probably user error, so far it looks to be working well.

The product page mentions that the device type handler for this sensor is provided by RBOY APPS. Rboy apps is a subscription base service at $25 per year. By extension, does this device REQUIRE that subscription? Are there other DTH's that will work that do not require a subscription that is the same price as the device?

BEST ANSWER: No, while the RBOY service appears to be high quality and worthwhile for those who don't want to mess around with DTH's, there are at least two other handlers that work just fine. I just moved over to the krlaframboise : Zooz 4-in-1 Sensor that's working fine and offers very granular configuration changes to the sensors. No subscriptions required.

John,
You can use the DH that comes with the device. The RBOY just gives you more options and other uses you would not have possible with the standard DH.
FYI RBOY has several other custom software and DH's that are really useful. I originally purchased a subscription for my thermostats. This one was a bonus!

Will this interface with the Ecobee 3?
Matthew K
on Aug 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don't believe it interfaces directly. Ecobee 3 uses its own proprietary room sensors.
You could, however, leverage a platform such as smartthings, vera, openhab, etc. and get them to 'talk' that way. In my use case, I use the sensor to sense occupancy / temperature...and then feed commands to my thermostat via smartthings.

In order to use this with the ecobee you'll need to have a home hub like smartthings that can send the commands to the ecobee. It will not interface directly with the ecobee. If you're just looking to control the ecobee and don't need the added functionality of smartthings, it's best to just buy ecobee add on sensors.

Has anyone gotten these to report the battery %? I have 3 of these and none of them do (but all the other sensor values come through fine; this is with OpenHAB). I also have 2 of the Zooz ones that are basically identical, and those both DO report battery %. Odd...

Is there a parameter to set temperature offset? Seems no one can make an accurate Temp sensor.

on Apr 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You could do this with a custom device handler for SmartThings but I haven't seen native offset control. As far as its accuracy, I put this near my wall thermostat and left it for a while to acclimate (it's not a quick read meat thermometer and the updates only get sent to the hub on defined change parameters to save battery). This device was .5 degrees away from the wall thermostat reading which is close enough for my needs and definitely could be attributed to the fact that they are a couple inches apart. Anyway, seems accurate enough for my uses.

It may deypend on the software you are using. With Homeseer HS3, there is a way on the "Status Graphics" tab to put in the offset.

Will this sensor work / compatible with a Nexia system?
A shopper
on Dec 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I should. Nexia is just a Z-Wave system. If you don't want to throw money down the drain each month, just pay for a Samsung smartthings hub and connect it to that... no monthly fee.

Can the motion sensor detect 360? Or does it only sense down and away (from the led light on top). The manual is a little confusing. Thanks,

on Jul 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It has 4 sensors, motion, temp, humidity and illuminance. The top led like thing toward the edge is the illuminance sensor while the bigger center sensor is motion sensor and it lights up also in different color depending upon the state. Motion, at most is detected in 270 degree cone in front of the motion sensor. Hope this helps.

Device does not detect motion.
Bought two of these. Neither detect motion. The rest of the sensors work fine. Disappointing.

Decent multi-sensor made nearly useless because it's slow response time and atrocious battery life.
So I really liked these sensors when I first picked them up, worked with openhab right out of the box once i figured out that the inclusion button was in the tiny pin-hole and not the micro switch inside the body (that's the tamper switch).
All the measurements seem reasonably accurate but the reporting time has a very, very long delay.
I first noticed it when trying to use the motion sensor to turn on the light in my garage, sometimes it comes on after 3 or so seconds, but most of the time it takes well over 10 seconds for the light to turn on. Even setting it up to communicate directly with the light switch, bypassing the hub and rules altogether, the response time is just as poor.
The light sensor is even worse, there is no way to set a threshold of level change that will trigger reporting so it will simply update periodically.
There is also no good way to mount these sensors. Velcro works, but you have to do them off to change the batteries (often as you will find out) and if you mount them on paint the Velcro will eventually come off the wall.
The real deal breaker however is the battery life, it takes 2 AAA batteries and come with plain alkaline batteries. They first ran out aftera couple of weeks and I chalked it up to crappy batteries.
Unfortunately they don't do well at all on rechargable batteries, runtime is days and battery level always report 0. Best resultsi have had with lithium batteries but even then the run time is less thana month and lithium batteries are much too expensive to change that often.
These sensors would work okay if all you wanted to do was mostly log data and perhaps use for presence detection of it wasn't for the terrible battery life.
Now i have 3 sensors that really aren't good for much at all. Perhaps I can experiment with an external power source, but the sensors themselves simply aren't good enough to really be worth the effort.
I believe these are the same as the Zoos v1 sensors, the Zoos v2 cost about the same age have solved the battery life and speed issues soi would recommend those instead.

Doesn't work well
It has never reported a correct temperature. It is off up to 5 degrees in either direction. Monoprice would have let me return it but i had to package and send the old one back before they would send another, a reasonable request but still a hassle.

Very good sensor, especially for the pice
Very good device especially for the price. It works great with Homeseer. I have some sensors from Zooz and Aeon Labs. This works as well or better than the more expensive sensors. Recommended.

Horrible Battery Life - otherwise would be a great device
I have 15 of these and 6 other brand motions sensors (3 Fibaro multi & 3 old Zwave non plus regular motion). Battery life on the Monoprice Multi-Sensor is only about 1/3rd as long as the others. I change the othersabout once a year, these seem to only last 4 months or so. Others use a CR123 battery vs these 2xAAA batteries. I noticed the Zooz branded version moved to CR123 recently, wonder how much longer it lasts.

Works great with smartthings.
So far so good. Had to google how to pair it, since the directions arent' so great. The button you need to press is the pinhole, not the button inside.

Did not work with my Z-Wave system
I have bought 4 Z-Wave plug in light and appliance modules from Monoprice.com and they worked fine with my Z-wave interface controller, but this PIR Multi sensor will not pair up to my Z-wave controller. I would be hesitant on buying one. Bill H.

Seems to work fine but a pain to get included properly
Seems to run fine hooked up to my OpenHab 2.3 system once fully included, but is a complete bear to get included properly. Needed to exclude/re-include multiple times just to get it picked up as not "unknown" item. Also had issues with all of the device channels picking up, so had to re-initialize several times to get it to work properly. I suspect these issues are due to the device going to sleep too fast but can't confirm. Ordered 7 and so far have had these issues with the first 5.
