BEST ANSWER: This is not the right cable. You need a converter from microUSB (or usb C) - depending on your phone model. Then you'd run an HDMI to HDMI cable into your tv.

Is this cable bi-directional? Can it be used to display content from a desktop tower PC with a display port to an HDTV with HDMI ports?

BEST ANSWER: HDMI cables can work in either direction. I use this cable between the Mini Display Port on a laptop to the HDMI input on a monitor, which is essentially the same thing you want to do.

The smaller end connects to the mini port on my Macbook laptop and the HDMI end connects to the HDMI port on my tv. I do not know what ports exist on a PC tower.

What's the difference between HDMI and HDTV cable? I have a surface pro 4. Does it work with surface pro 4? deliver sounds and pictures to TV JUST like other HDMI cable?

Great experience
I had purchased an HDMI cable from a Big Box store to connect my Mac to my tv. While browsing online for HDMI/Mac adapters I found Monoprice. They had an HDMI cable that connected my Mac directly to my tv without the adapter! The price for a 15 ft cable was about the same as the adapter itself! It arrived in just a few days. Works perfectly! Couldn't be happier! Thank you Monoprice!

HDMI cable 15ft. long
I have returned to MONOPRICE several times for my electronic needs. I needed to speak with someone this time and the gentleman who answered the phone was able to direct me to the exact item I was looking to find. The HDMI cable arrived exactly as pictured and described online, and had plastic covers over the ends to protect them. I am not a heavy user, but when I need electronics, I look to MONOPRICE first.
