Is the power cord flat?
Jeff K
on May 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, Round. It's about 3/8" diameter. The plug is also not flat, and needs about 2.5" of space between the wall and the nearest object to bend.

Jeff, the power cord is round and the 120 VAC plug is not a flush mount type. The power bar is very good in that the outlets rotate and it has a low profile.

Do the outlets work at any angle or just 0 and 90 degrees?
Steven L
on Jul 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Any angle from my experience. I have several at odd angles to allow for multiple sideways and odd shape plugs. It's really handy for that feature. Also it seems simple but the massive and lit power button is an improvement on the the rocker style switch found on some power strips. It's obvious when it's on and powered and it takes an intentional push to turn the whole strip off, no accidental turning of everything off.

Hello, yes I purchased this same item for an additional source of electricity for my pool house and personally tested it after I reviewed your question. Yes it works at any angle without a hiccup or disruption of electricity flow, even while turning it. I personally would rate it a 10 out of 10. Great product.

BEST ANSWER: Cannot say it's the best without testing/using most other options available. It is an excellent product with the number of outlets and some has rotating abilities. I caution however having too many items connected to the same outlet it is a possible fire hazard. You might have the outlet replaced with a AFCI or GFCI outlet. AFCI Arc Fault Circuit - designed to help prevent electrical fires that can be caused by potentially dangerous arc-faults in an electrical circuit. . Arcing may be caused by damaged wires behind a wall or damaged cords that are plugged into an outlet. GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) is designed to protect people from severe or fatal electric shocks. I use GFCI to try and help protect my audio and video systems from electrical spikes.

I would think so. The higher the joules the better the protection. If your area is prone to power surges, power outages or lightning strikes this should cover it. Of corse if you want higher joules than I’m sure there are other brands out there witch proctored it at a higher cost of course.

After a power surge and the MOV's stop protecting, does this shut off the power to the equipment?
A shopper
on Dec 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi, this product will shut off power to the power strip and connected equipment once the MOVs are used up, either after a strong surge (or big voltage spike) or after multiple surges that eventually use up the protective component. This is designed to Auto Shut Down to protect equipment and to call the user's attention. The product would have to be replaced afterwards because it is designed to no longer provide power to avoid confusion and use without surge protection. The built-in circuit breaker, on the other hand, temporarily shuts down the unit when it is overloaded and there is too much current, and can be reset through the power button once the issue is resolved. Hope this helps, thanks.

Yes. This product is a "surge protector"; it shuts off electrical power like a breaker and requires a manual reset. In order for the electrical power to still flow after a surge to the various items being powered, you would want to probably seek a UPS (uninterrupted power supply). A UPS will continue to power for a designated period of time using a rather large battery. I've added a picture of an Eaton UPS offered by Monoprice, as an example. Note that most UPSs also require a manual reset for a return to "normalcy".

Can this be used with a 20amp microwave?
A shopper
on Jun 24, 2021
BEST ANSWER: I would tend to say "yes", but it frankly depends mostly on the usage of the microwave. This block appears to be built for a 15 Amp circuit and I would have to believe that in most "normal", not very lengthy, household usages, it should be fine. If the circuit it is attached to is 20 Amp, then you may want to consider a 20 Amp surge protector -- and especially if the intended use is "high frequency" like in a restaurant. However, for infrequent household use (and most houses are wired with 15 Amp circuits), this will fit onto your circuit just fine, as long as you stay under 2400 watts of max usage on the 15 Amp circuit (i.e., beware of having too many appliances/devices on the same circuit or it will trip the breaker at your electrical box). A normal microwave uses approximately 600 - 800 watts (of 2400 total). I currently have mine on a 15 Amp circuit and it is delivering power to a multitude of computer-related devices (mostly), so I do not have the circuit really "stressed" and have never encountered an issue. This model is perfect for the multitude of power cables I need in a relatively limited space. The big issue with microwaves can be the power fluctuations some of them experience, so 20 Amps is probably preferred; however, please note that the entire circuit must be 20 Amp to work effectively -- not just the surge protector.

Can I use this surge protector on a 20 amp ac circuit?
New User U
on Jun 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Of course. I use mine on a 30 Amp circuit. The limitation is the current that you ask the strip to supply, not what size circuit you plug it into. Do not exceed 15 Amps of current. That means you need to add up all the things you have plugged into it, and the total amps should not exceed 15.
