I have a 2x4 wall and need capability to show 2 - 2x2 or 1 - 2x4. Is this possible with this device?
A shopper
on Oct 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I am using it right now in 2x2 format. Very easy setup to do so. Can definitely not do 2x4 though, only has four outputs. The wall i use is also a 2x4 so we use two blackbirds to do dual 2x2 video walls with different content (one is a TV feed, the other is a content management computer feed)

Does this manage EDID? How does it switch seamlessly so that the HDMI display and the connected component doesn't "reset" (causing a few seconds of the display going black) when the input is switched?

Can this be used with 4k tvs? I know it won't display at 4k, but could it still be used with the tvs?

BEST ANSWER: Yes. It should work as long as the resolution is within the tv’s range. The picture quality may be reduced somewhat but the tv should still display non 4K content just fine.

How can the image be adjusted, so it avoids the frame of the tvs? Text gets cutout as the image reads the frame of the tvs as screen also.

BEST ANSWER: Hello, thank you for your question. While this unit does have 2x2 video wall capability, having a setup as you have described will depend completely on whether your projector supports picture in picture from multiple sources. Mine doesn't work with an HDMI extender. Works great for local HDMI displays, and the extenders work great when connected directly to a source. However when I mix both this matrix switch and the extenders, I get audio and video for a few minutes, then the remote screen goes dark. Any chance this is a setting or firmware upgrade somewhere? Do I need a specific extender to make this work?

BEST ANSWER: Try changing resolutions. I had a similar issue and that fixed it for me. I also had an issue with clone vs extended. I could not clone the display, it just went black. When I extended, the display showed up. Adjusting resolution fixed the screen blanking issue I had afterwards.

Great for Video Wall
Tried a video wall in my basement. Found this box, which was WAY cheaper than anything else I found.
So far it is amazing --- does everything I wanted. 4 separate shows or all 1 show.
Highly recommend it

If you are looking this is probably the best cost to value out there for a matrix video wall setup.
This device did almost exactly what I had hoped it would, just an FYI for the rest of you it will only handle passing 2-channel audio. It will not pass anything higher than that. That being said it gets the job done with little lag and great picture. Make sure you have an option on your TV to adjust the screen up/down as I had green lines on the top edge.
