You use a 110 punch with these, or with the angled connectors, Krone?

BEST ANSWER: Normal 110 punch should do (as that's what I used). It uses the same punch block style terminations as most modern office environments and CAT6 patch panels.

They are Cat6. I believe the description is just speaking about the series generically.

What wire gauge will these accept?
A shopper
on May 1, 2023
BEST ANSWER: These will accept 23 or 24 gauge wire. CAT6 is 23 gauge and CAT5 and CAT5e are both 24 gauge wire. All you need is the proper punch down tool to terminate the wire in to the keystone connector.

They are designed to be used with Cat6 cable. The cable I use has 23 Gauge wires and I had no problems installing them.

What does “dual IDC” mean?
Pawel C
on Jul 31, 2023
BEST ANSWER: 3M’s unique dual-IDC (insulation displacement connector) approach promotes a gas-tight connection no matter what size wire is being terminated. With two connectors instead of just one, the system terminal easily accommodates a wider range of wire sizes-18 to 24 (1.0-0.5mm) AWG – than any ordinary single connector design. Fits side by side in #6837/Leviton #41646
It's harder finding Cat5-6 jacks that fit side-by-side in a Leviton 41646 (a 6 hole keystone Decora insert, Monoprice #6837 gives you two of them) and a fills a 6 port.
By my caliper measurment they're about 17mm wide, a touch wider than the Cat 5e version (#15687 which is ~ 16.2mm). By contrast the regular punchdown cat 6 is wider (#5384 which is ~18.1mm) and DOES NOT FIT side-by-side.
That said when I can I prefer to use the non-rotated jacks (# 5384) as:
* You can't check the color coding after you start punching (other jacks have color coding on the outside) so I've already screwed up one..
* The cable isn't as secure if the wire is tugged on.
I'm sure the first point I'd overcome, but for a DIYer it's not likely as I only have a few jacks left.

Awesome!
Very easy to use and a great fit. The way the cable comes straight out the back enables them to easily mount in the box without a tight bend radius.

Best Keystone I've Used By Far
Very easy to punch with a standard punch tool, making a very reliable connection. I found it much easier to use the the standard Cat-5e ones where the cable lies parallel to the punch contacts. In this case, the cable comes straight out the back making the length of untwisted wire much shorter, ultimately making them very easy to place in a keystone wall plate or box. They are plenty narrow too, so they can mount side-by-side in a six-hole plate.
PROS: Very well constructed. Easy to punch.
CONS: None.
