Monoprice Cat6A RJ-45 Toolless 180-Degree Keystone, Blue

Monoprice Cat6A RJ-45 Toolless 180-Degree Keystone, White
BEST ANSWER: I would say SOLID only. Not sure stranded would provide a good connection. But I could be mistaken.

I tested these keystone jacks with Cat6A 28AWG UTP Ultra-Thin Bulk Cable, Stranded, CMR/FT4 cable and they worked fine. I had to be careful when lining up the cable into the termination slots to ensure the cable is properly crimped when you put the cable holder in place. I used a cable tester to test each connection, and this was essential as some of the crimps did not work on the first try, but were easily corrected.

Do these work with the Slimrun Cat6 cable from Monoprice?
A shopper
on Sep 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, they work with slim run cable. As mentioned in another post, the slim cable doesn't fit snugly at the entrance to the jack as it is made for traditional "fat" cat5/6 cable. I don;t think this will be a problem unless you "pull" the cable a lot after it is terminated in the jack as the slim run cable will loosen fairly easily if pulled. I recommend to test each connection using a cable tester as these jacks are a bit finicky to properly seat the cable in the punch down slots.

We didn't use them with slim run, but one spool of the cable we got was smaller diameter than the other two and they didn't seem to fit as snugly where the cable enters the back of the keystone. YMMV and this may not be something that matters to you.

Monoprice Cat6A RJ-45 Toolless 180-Degree Keystone, Blue

Monoprice Cat6A Ethernet Bulk Cable - Solid, 550MHz, UTP, CMR, Riser Rated, Pure Bare Copper Wire, 10G, 23AWG, No Logo, 1000ft, Blue
BEST ANSWER: I'm currently using with Monoprice 23AWG CAT6A cable (Product ID 30661) and they seem to work fine. I really think that (assuming the keystone is wired correctly) as long as the keystone is locked down into "finished" position correctly, you will not experience any issues.

I have used a lot of these, probably between 70-80. They are great to work with. However, I believe the 23 GA wire might be too thin for them. I would be concerned they would not make good contact. That's my opinion but I think I'm right.

How do you terminate the cables on this, is it spring loaded terminals of some sort, or is there a cap that pushes the cables down into the slots like a punchdown tool would normally do, or something else? Is it the same as your tool-less RJ-45 Keystone Jacks #15666 here https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15666 ? The pics on both products are not sufficient to give an idea of how the cabling is terminated without a punch down tool.

Monoprice Cat6A RJ-45 Toolless 180-Degree Keystone, Blue

Monoprice Entegrade Series Cat6A Unshielded 19in 1U Toolless Patch Panel, 24-port
BEST ANSWER: The back of the keystone where the cable enters opens up like a clam. Inside there is a white cap that is removable (so the unit is 2 peices). The white cap acts as a punch down when it is put in place and the blue exterior clam secures the punch down in place.

Thank you for this! I've been looking at this and the keystone jacks to wire my house up (already have 1000' spool of Cat 6a ready to go and a 48port gigabit PoE+ switch) and was concerned about whether these would work for my use case. I'm a bit more confident in purchasing them now.

I am confused by the description. It states it can terminate Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6a but then goes on to say it is available in Cat6 or Cat6a. Can I use the Monoprice Cat6A RJ-45 Toolless 180-Degree Keystone with Cat6 cable?

Will the Cat6A RJ-45 Toolless 180-Degree Keystone (red 15665 or blue 15666) fit side-by-side in the Décor Insert for Keystone, 6 Hole (34518)? This would be a reason for me to choose over the Monoprice Cat6 Punch Down Keystone Jack (red 5383 or blue 5379 - these have a specific note in their description indicating they will not fit side-by-side). Another user was able to install Leviton QuickPort Extreme CAT 6 Connectors (example 61110-RL6 from the orange DIY big box store), side-by-side in a 6-hole Décor Insert. Thank you.

The others will block one another if you try to install them.

Is there a datasheet for these? How good are these are mitigating alien cross-talk? Do they conform to the RFC for 10G ethernet? Has anyone here tested these with Fluke DTX-1800 or better testers with the Cat 6A heads?

Easy to use, but has quality control issues
I installed eight of these yesterday. Of those eight, one was missing the retaining clip from the packaging, and one lacked continuity on pin #5. A 25% failure rate is pretty bad for any product, so make sure you order surplus to account for spoilageand if you have the means, maybe make a testing rig to test them before installation.

Easy Tool-less Connector/Keystone.
This is now my keystone of choice! It is very different from the keystone I was using previously, so the first one was a bit of a hassle until I realized I was just being stupid in my approach to attaching the wires. :) The rest were wired easily and, if done properly, the CAT cable is quite secure. Nice design!

Worthless
We ordered about 100 of these and had to redo half of the drops. Maybe we got a bad batch, but I will never buy them again. Wire 8 had a lot off issues connecting for some reason. Stick with the punch down ones.

Quick and simple to install
These keystone jacks have to be the simplest to install. The "trick" is to wire up the retaining clip first, then press into the main part of the keystone jack, that way there isn't any slack wiring bunching up in the middle. Then trim any excess wire outside of the retaining clip if it doesn't already fall off.

This was my first time wiring keystones and these worked without any issues. Monoprice has a great how-to pdf file that was all I needed to figure out how these went together. My network is up and running and I highly recommend these keystones.
