The only inputs to the Monolith 2 are RCA coaxial connections. Even if you could convert speaker level outputs to RCA, it would overdrive the Monolith.

This amp had line level inputs. (RCA jacks). You will need to connect from the pre-out outputs on your AVR to the inputs on the amplifier.

You have to have a receiver with pre-outs. The receiver will send the signal via RCA or XLR cable from the pre-out to the amp input XLR or RCA. Then you connect the amp to your speakers with speaker wire.

I love, Love, LOVE the amp. I have the Monolith 5 (200x5) and an Emotiva XPA-5 Gen 3 (250x5) .... I prefer the rich, powerful sound of the Monolith over the Emotiva...just my two cents.

BEST ANSWER: Only one toroidal transformer for the Monolith 2 & 3 model. With the monolith 5 & 7 you will get two transformers. There sized accordingly.

Why do you have the description for the Monolith 7 mixed in with the Monolith 2? There isn't even any pictures of the Monolith 2 internals.

No, the out side housings is not fully ventilated only half. plus you would need an additional transformer for the added channels. It would be more cost effective to trade it in and up grade. Or if you have the space keep it for your two front channels and buy another amp with enough channels for the rest of your system, Monolith come with a variety of amps. I my self run a separate two channel amp for my two front speakers.

I'm experiencing a low hum coming from the amplifier (not from the speakers), what can I do?

BEST ANSWER: At some level, all 50/60Hz transformers will have some mechanical hum. There are many different reasons that can effect how loud the hum is.
The hum will be dependent on the quality of the AC coming from the wall. The mean line voltage should be 110-120volts. If the voltage is higher the hum will louder. If the hum is constant and at a fixed level, it means the line voltage is too high.
If the level changes, meaning it is louder sometimes and softer at other times, it means the AC line is distorted and or has low levels of DC on the line. DC on the AC line is actually quite common.
You might need to get a DC filter for your line, or us a ground cheater plug. Also, putting the amplifier on a hard surface (like a 1" block of granite) could help reduce the resonance as well.

Can I hook up a subwoofer on it? I have an AV receiver for a 5.1 system (Klipsch RP speakers), and was thinking about adding a power amp for music (adding also Oppo 205-d and a streamer, such as CXN), using pair of front speakers and a sub in a power amp such as this one. does it make sense?

BEST ANSWER: The power switch is on the back of the amp. Turning it on there places the amp in standby mode, the button on the front switches from standby to full power mode. It takes a few seconds after hitting the button for the amp to fully power up.

Can I drive this amp with an unbalanced signal through the XLR connections or would I need to use RCA? I bought very high quality RCA to XLR cables for my current amp and would like to get some more use out of them LOL. They are better shielded than any of my RCAs.

Reference Quality - No Regrets
For two channel audio I wanted an Class AB amp and I looked at Bryston, Rotel, Michi, Macintosh, ATI (wink wink) and this unit seemed to do what they did for le'ss. Honestly I think it would be a good deal at twice the price so its worth the wait if on restock.
It powers my Revel F35's to perfection and louder than I can stand. Build quality is *E*X*C*E*L*L*E*N*T*.
My system is a stealth system in terms of looks so no blinking lights or scandalous bouncing meters ands this fits in perfectly.
I'd happily buy it again.

Great amp..great price !
A fine amplifier in every regard. Pushes my old KEF 104/2 Reference speakers just right with plenty of head room to spare. Silent and strong in performance. This is a high performance modern amp in every way at a fraction of the price compared to other well known makes !! It has a very modern appearance which is understated. The manufacture also gives buyers a 45 day approval period which is pretty amazing in itself ! I am keeping mine though. Performance for the people !!

Incredibly satisfying
With every listen, I congratulate myself on this purchase. Driving Polk RTA 12B's, there's an effortless, foundational bottom that still amazes me 4 months after purchase. It's great-sounding in all ranges, but the power and control it brings to the low end, and to any percussive sound, is what really blows me away and reveals what I've been missing. A truly exceptional value.

Excellent amp at a great price
Nice and simple with plenty of power. It?s paired with a Yamaha receiver and Polk tower speakers along with a center channel and 8? subwoofer. The receiver by itself didn?t have near enough power to bring out the best in the speakers. The monolith was just what we needed at a great price point. The sound we get now is crisp, clear and rich with plenty of boom on the low end - really brings out the full potential of the tower speakers. Very happy with our choice.

One Word- Awesome
This unit is extremely impressive. I?m very much into vintage gear, so moving into something so modern was a little unnerving, but I must say this thing has shattered any reservations I had. It performs flawlessly and has a very high ceiling beyond its rating. A fantastic piece of equipment at this price point. Totally recommend it to anyone in this market!

Perfect Match for me
After purchasing a set of Polk LSIM 707's a couple of years ago, I began to realize that my 125 watts per channel Denon AVR was simply not up to the task. While I liked the versatility of the AVR, it simply lacked the power and detail I was looking for.
I did several years of research, visited a few big box showrooms and local boutique shops., and finally stepped up my search. This unit stood out, with its simple, unfettered design, ample power, and giant-killer specs. The price to performance, bang for the buck, or whatever you want to call it proved too tempting.
I've had the 2x200 running for 90 days in my home system and I could not be more pleased. The sound stage is wonderful. It produces the power these speakers require; with clarity and detail I could only hope for. My wife loved the upgrade. I wanted to share it with other people who were familiar with my room and set-up., so I invited my cousin to the house for a listening session a month later. The upshot? He ordered the identical unit a week later. Highly recommended.

Working great on Vintage JBL speakers
Purchased this to power to vintage JBL L100T speakers. I couldn?t be happier. These AMPs are something special. Good clean power.
