Is it solid copper?

BEST ANSWER: SOLID/ PURE Copper! I asked the same question via Monoprice chat and was told it was solid copper so I purchased. When I got he cable I verified that it is indeed solid copper and NOT copper clad aluminium. There a video on the internet that show what happens to both types when heat is applied.

BEST ANSWER: It does not say so on the cable. I hope it is since I do have some of it exposed on the side of my house. I am trying to keep it under the eaves though.

The product description says it is for direct burial, but the photo of the box says it is only outdoor rated. Which one is correct?

No, this is not shielded and does not have a drain wire either. It consists of just the Cat5e circuits wrapped in watertape inside the outer jacket.

BEST ANSWER: It doesn't specify in the description, but I believe all outdoor rated cable has a jacket that is UV resistant. If you check the product description on other sites the jacket is listed as Jacket: PE(UV)

BEST ANSWER: "Flexible" is subjective. But it's a solid cable, not stranded, so it's not going to be as flexible as cables designed for regular handling (e.g. like a patch cord).

Watertape is just paper
Jacket seems sturdy, but the the "watertape" appears to just be paper. I already buried it so I am not going to change anything but I am not super thrilled.

Solid product got the done.
Great product. Pulling was easy enough had set a spindle up for spool of cable I was sent as did come in box.

My order came on a spool, not in a box
The cable I received is the same rating and quality as far as I can tell, but it came on a spool and not in a box. Not a huge issue, just a PITA to have to cobble together a frame to allow the spool to turn.
I am guessing they were out of the boxes and just substituted, and I have had nothing but great service from Monoprice in the past, so I will live with what I got.
If you really need this to be in a box you may want to make a note on your order.

Solid cable at a reasonable price
I purchased this cable to connect a POE camera outside. The cable is of excellent quality and I have not encountered any data errors. I ran the cable inside of conduit underground, so only time will tell how well it holds up, but I don't foresee any issues. In any case, I ended up making 3 separate runs to the same location so that I have backup should the cable fail for whatever reason. My only wish is that the cable was sold in smaller spools as well.

Great quality but difficult to strip
This looks like a high quality cable. I recently used it to wire up 2 POE outdoor cameras for my home.
It doesn't have the usual thread that you pull on to strip the jacket (instead has some sort of paper fiber type inside insulation). Because of the outdoor rating, the jacket is very tough and you would think that you can pull it back with needle nose pliers after the first cut. But the jacket is brittle and breaks frequently when you tug on it. Only way was to gently cut through using my micro shear cutters. It was frustrating because I discovered this up on the step ladder in freezing weather when crimping it for the first camera!
Anyway, the stripping is one-time and the difficulty is a function of the direct burial feature with the tools I had on hand. Pros who regularly deal with this type of cable probably have other tools at their disposal, and so I will still give it 5 stars.

Good quality. Color coding is easy to read. Solid stranded. Will have to wait a few years to see how it holds up to weather.
