How fast is the switching? It's obviously not seamless, but are we looking at 1 second or 5 seconds?
ack154
on Dec 20, 2017
I haven't used it for several months, so I can only answer from memory. It seemed very fast to me -- at most 1 or 2 seconds. I remember the change being just as fast as switching the source on the monitor/TV. I definitely don't remember any attention-getting delay. I also recall that using the remote was easier/faster than the button on the box.

IIRC, switching was well under a second (I no longer have multiple video sources so I'm not using it at present). Also, it skips over unused inputs..

It's pretty instantaneous as long as you place the sensor at the edge of the TV and point the remote at it.

Can I hook a raspberry pi and my pc to the same monitor?
A shopper
on Mar 26, 2020
BEST ANSWER: You can connect your PC, provided it has HDMI out, and RaspberryPi into this switch, and then the switch will connect to your monitor. You will then be able to switch between which is being presented on your display. This does not do any keyboard or mouse switching, only the display via HDMI.

The manual for this product (15373) seems to be a completely different switch as it mentions Wi-Fi and Alexa control. Does that switch actually exist or is the manual correct that this switch has those capabilities?
Jon G

BEST ANSWER: I purchased this about a year ago and, to be honest, I never read the manual. I knew it did what I needed it to do: give me extra HDMI slots from my pitiful TV which only had two. I've never seen nor used Wifi or Alexa with this unit. I would err on the side that it does NOT do these things.

I want to use this to add hdmi ports to my receiver. For example, if I use this to plug in my blu ray player, will my blu ray no longer respond to its original remote? Will the remote for my receiver still work? Why the need for a separate remote? Thanks

In the description it mentions it does not require power. Will the remote work without providing power to this switch? What is the purpose of the power input to the switch?
Prasad J
on May 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. So the unit would still require power but it does not have to come from an AC adapter. An HDMI signal can provide power and will provide power to this switch.
So once the devices and display are turned on the switch will then receive power from the signal being sent through the HDMI cable. Thus allowing you to receive signal, switch between signals, and use the remote control.
Should you require additional assistance, please reach out to our technical support team with a detailed question via any of the methods available here:

When you switch sources does the power to the one you switched away from "turn off?" I need one that will retain what was on my monitors when I switch between sources, so if I have 2 laptops hooked into it, and switch back and forth, I don't have to reorganize all my software on the monitor each time. I think what I';m looking for is called PIP function

Works as needed. I like the Automatically sensing in this switch
I needed this so I didn't have to change HDMI cables to the TV. So far it works. It will automatically sense which device was turn on. No need for the remote for me, the two devices I have plug into this switch only one device is turn on at anytime.

Nice economical splitter
I have this splitting ROKU, Chrome and a PC output into a TV. The results through the splitter are every bit as good as when the source is connected directly to the TV. The included power supply cable has not been needed, freeing up scarce outlet space. No HDMI cable is included to get from the splitter to the TV but I had a few to choose from. My one complaint is that neither (I have two) holds on the last input used. When you switch to the TV HDMI input you never know which of the three sources will be up but the odds are not in your favor and invariably you have to switch to the desired source. Not a huge issue but it still cost it star.

Works well. Just wasn’t expecting it to auto switch inputs
Does what it supposed to do with no issues for the few weeks I have used it so far. It’s not really a problem but I wasn’t aware that it switches the input if you power on another device. I would prefer manually switching the input with the remote for my use but can see how this would be nice for other situations.

Worked, but pay attention to your cables
Used this to protect another device in a video conferencing application. Our users often share content (videos, PowerPoint presentations, web sites, etc.) over video conference. They are not technically oriented people, so with constant plugging/unplugging of cables, they are unintentionally abused. Better to have the users plug into a 20-something dollar switch than a $400 content-sharing device.
We use active HDMI cables such as Monoprice Select Active series high speed HDMI cables. These cables require power from the source port. So, using the active HDMI cables from a source with power, such as a computer, is no problem to this HDMI switch. However, you can't use an active cable on the output of this switch, because the power is not transferred through the cable to the switch. You'll need a passive HDMI cable on the output, then there's no problem. So, active cable to the switch the input is fine, but passive on the output.
