Monoprice Speaker Wire, CMP Rated, 4-Conductor, 12AWG, 100ft, Black
Monoprice Speaker Wire, Oxygen-Free CL2 Rated, 2-Conductor, 12AWG, 50ft
BEST ANSWER: I used the 12 gauge O2 free cable to drive my 7 driver, 4 ohm, Legacy Audio towers. plus the center. They are plenty efficient and the Outlaw Audio amp has plenty of power to drive them so I did not feel the need to bi-amp them. The cable is high quality and priced way below anything else close. I ran 14 gauge for the 8 surrounds and Atmos speakers too.. The sheath was almost too thick for my cable trays. Again, very high quality.

Depends on what you want to use it for. If you need plenum rated cable, then the Nimbus is for you. If you intend on laying the speaker wire on the floor, the choice series is perfectly fine cable. The Nimbus can carry multiple pairs of wire, thus making the cabling in a ceiling or under the floor easier, no need to do two or more cable runs. I cannot comment about the effect of crosstalk on longer runs.

The 4 conductor wire sure made it simpler. It's also likely that its better sounding wire due to the construction

What is the diameter of the 12/4 Nimbus wire (jacket included)?
New User U
on Mar 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Diameter, as in how big of a hole will it just pass through, roughly 3/8 of an inch. It's Not as big as a 1/2 inch wide nor is it as small as a 1/4 inch wide. The "diameter" of the wire jacket included is about 3/8 of an inch, please note the wire is not a pefect circle it's the shape of 4 wires wrapped together so the jacket isn't perfectly round, hope that helps...

What is printed on the jacket? I'm looking to use 16 or 18 gauge, 2 and 4 conductor wire. This says that it is UL rated - is that UL number on the jacket?

BEST ANSWER: The actual ul # is not on the jacket, it has been tested by "Underwriters Laboratories" to pass safety standards, the actual UL # is unnecessary.

How do you prove it was tested by UL to pass those safety standards? Having the number on the jacket prevents issues like we had around the time that I asked that question, (which must have been months ago, by the way). We install commercially, and we were using a wire that did not have the UL number on the jacket. We had to return to a location to remove all of that wiring and replace it with one that had the correct UL number listed on it. Unfortunately, we ran into a very tough local inspector there. Having the UL number on the jacket, or at least documentation that we can carry with us, would help when we run into those types of inspectors.
