Using a drill bit diameter gauge, I can put the 12/2 wire through a 5/16" hole. Nothing smaller, even by 1/64" works. Obviously, if you are running this through thicker material (2x4 studs), your hole better be larger than the 5/16" bare minimum.

Presently do not have access to cable, all I purchased, is installed in walls and ceiling. Cable is not round, more flat and oval in shape.

Probably close to about 3/8-inch. It’s a somewhat stiff plastic material that is not perfectly round.

BEST ANSWER: Any good 1/4 (unbalanced, tip sleeve) will work. Hosa is a good brand.

BEST ANSWER: I did not take the time to individually count the strands of wire in my 12ga Numbus 2-conductor CMP rated speaker wire, but I can say that it works perfectly in my system and I am totally satisfied with the quality and performance. How;s that for a sentence?

My question is about the insulation and dielectric materials. I'm looking for foamed PE or PTFE dialectric with a PVC outer jacket. Is this insulated with either? What is the inner and outer jacket made of?

Hi-Output design for excellent sound.
I haven't had a chance to install these yet but expect great sound with the 12-gauge wires. You can get other cables but if you want the best sound, you get the best cables. These are the highest rated cables I can afford. They seem to be of a good quality, so we'll see how well they perform. Tin the wires, then connect. Can't be any easier.

A good choice: Monoprice Nimbus Series 12AWG 2-Conductor Speaker Wire, 100'
The Monoprice 100? Nimbus Series 12AWG 2-Conductor CMP-Rated Speaker Wire was a great buy. It worked perfectly for my audio setup. I liked that it was somewhat rigid brecause it stayed in place and was easy to run along ceiling tile. All-in-all, I highly recommend it for someone who wants a premium cable at a low cost for their audio setup.

Low electrical resistance, High bending resistance.
The wire is as advertised but really difficult to to work with because of the vert stiff outer jacket. I ran it for the rear and surround speakers but it doesnt want to lay flat.
