Can you easily crimp a mod-end (RJ45) to this cable? Or is this spool better suited to use for punch-downs to a patch panel and keystone only?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, RJ45 connectors work fine. I'm surprised by the question. Are there cables that have problems with RJ45 connectors?

BEST ANSWER: For this application, I would just buy pre-terminated data patch cables. The cost and time would be better spent. Also CAT5e would be more appropriate since both of those devices would be only getting data from your ISP, which is capped well below the transmission standards even for 5e.

To make your own cables, you'll need RJ-45 plugs and a crimping tool. That said, if you only need two 50-foot cables, you can buy them pre-made for ~$8 apiece, which is quite a bit less expensive.

Can this be used outdoors? (Not buried)

BEST ANSWER: It is not designed for outdoor use but I just used it to replace 2 outdoor 75' Cat5 runs . Being terminated inside at both ends I expect them to last at least as long as the Cat5 runs which was 14 years. I have painted over the cables which may help with their longevity.

No, it is not rated for outdoor use. I would get a outdoor rated cable. They are more expensive but will hold up to the weather a lot better than this would.

No. You want to use a gel filled or equivalent cable to protect from temperature changes and moisture.

I noticed that the orange and orange-white pairs are twisted at a tighter configuration than the other wires. Is there a reason for this? And as a result, would it be preferred to wire this for 568A or 568B configuration.

BEST ANSWER: Pairs are twisted with a different twist rate to help avoid interference from adjacent pairs, this is why each of two pairs have the same twist rate.

Good day. No, it does not matter how tight or loose the wires are twisted as you will need to untwist them anyway in order to terminate the ends. Either 568a or 568b is fine, doesnt matter which one you use as long as the entire environment you're in (home or business network) uses the same configuration throughout. I personally used 568b to wire my house as thats the most widely used method in the industry.

It's Cat6 cable, it works
Great. It's high-quality Cat 6 cable. I am not an expert in that I am using advanced tooling to measure any sort of frequencies or packet loss, but I have had no problems on my home network with a PoE IP camera.

good cable, dispenser problems
Appears to be a good cable without defects. I had to open the box twice when pulling the cable to remove a kink that wouldn't pass through the guide.

Excellent quality and price
I purchased a 250' spool to replace two failed Cat5 runs. The Cat6 wire was 23AWG 100% copper, not the CCA junk that many places are selling now. And the price for the 250' spool was significantly less than anywhere else, even the CCA sellers.
There is no spool inside the box; the wire is just coiled up and feeds from the center. Maybe this is one reason this product sells for less. I had no issue with wire feed from the box but it is something to be aware of.
The quality of the cable was excellent and the colors of the individual wires were easy to differentiate. All of the items I purchased were of high quality and shipped immediately. I highly recommend this company.

Good Cable / Terrible Box
Good cable, terrible box/unwinding. It ended up bending 1/5 of my cable, make that worthless. The other 4/5 works great.

Great wire at a great price
Solid copper 23AWG Cat6. Box arrived with no issues and after installing multiple runs at approximately 200' total, I can report no issues with the wire or the dispensing box. All runs tested good at over 1G speed without a single feed through connector problem. Who can ask for more? Would buy again.

Cable Great, shipping: not so much.
Cable is great. Took way to long to get it. And then, part of the order was missing. I've never had an issue with Monoprice shipping until now.
