Could this cable be used outdoors?

BEST ANSWER: If you put in a protective conduit I think it would work fine for a permanent installation. Without a protective conduit it will probably work fine for a short term temporary installation. This is a great cable. It is a little stiffer than cat 5 or cat 6. I used the ones I purchased for temporary indoor use and it works great for that. If I was installing it outdoors for a perminate installation I would run it through a conduit that is approved for outdoor installations.

I have used it only indoors. I would assume that depends on the type of weather it would be exposed to. Personally, I would not use it unless it would put through a weather proof tube that was sealed on both ends.

Is there a temperature rating on the cable? Looking to possibly route through a garage wall to cross a span to other side of the house. Would be exposed to hot/cold temps, but no other elements.

I don't see a temperature on the cable. (Lots of writing on it, but no C/F number; check it out yourself, it's listed as "Marking" on the Spec Sheet at https://downloads.monoprice.com/files/specsheets/Entegrade_Series_Cat7_Specsheet_170420.pdf.)

Can this cable be routed thru the attic space? If not what cable do you recommend.

BEST ANSWER: I have routed this through attic space as well as through joists in the basement and up into walls. I put electrical tape over the and so the clip wouldn't get broken or bent.

I believe I know the answer but I want to be sure, hate returns. Are all of the different grades (Cat 7, Cat 6, Cat 5) ethernet cable's ends the same and are you able to use every grade in a machine that was built when the best was a cat 5?

BEST ANSWER: I don’t think there would be a problem. The cable is encased in a plastic outer sheath that appears pretty waterproof.

Excellent decision on my part

100 foot internet cable
The cable has been working fine for me. I have a switch located at the other end of my house and ran the cable quite a long ways through some walls and floors and my internet runs great.

100 foot shielded cat cable
I ordered one similar to this but I ruined the connector on one end. Knowing I could get another cable cheaper than I could buy a crimper to repair the cable I ruined. Monoprice sent it quickly, I installed it ( without tearing up the connector) and now have 100 Mgbyte internet to the computer in my den. The wireless was getting old and slow. Now it flies.
