Is this the best cable for the newer OLED 4K tv’s?

BEST ANSWER: saying it's the best leaves a lot of opinions open. I'm using this cable from my receiver to my televisions Arc in input output. I'm very happy with the results and it's it's able to support all of the audio formats I use including Dolby Atmos coming back from a Roku TV.

It is a good one,, I couldn't say it's the best as I wouldn't know how to judge that. I'd suggest reading some reviews from video experts on what to look for.

It took me a while to find time pull out the components, but when I finally hooked these up for all of my inputs and outputs they worked fine, take up less space and are nice and flexible. 3' reached nearby components, used 6' for TV and cable box so cable could be on top of a shelf for easier pwr off/on rebooting.

does this cable support 4k at 60hz with HDR?
A shopper

BEST ANSWER: NO - THIS ACTIVE CABLE DOES NOT SUPPORT 4K/60! Hooked between a Sony UBP-X800 4K player and a Sony XBR55X850D TV, the picture will not pass through this cable when "Enhanced HDMI" is enabled, which is Sony's term for 4K/60. I have tested 4 samples of this cable, and none of them will work once 4K/60 is enabled. It appears that the TV is continually going through handshake.
Regardless of the 18Gbps rating, do not buy this cable if you're trying to pass 4K HDR.

These cables say it can transmit 18 Gbps, which is basically 4K (4960x2160 resolution) at 60 fps with 4:4:4 chroma subsampling. That will pretty much work what HDR demands. If you see other HDMI cables that do not have a bandwidth of 18 Gbps, most likely they are only able to transmit half that information (such as 4K at 30 fps, or 4K at 60 fps but at 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 subsampling. You'll probably either notice a loss in clarity of color (this is very noticable when you see text and spreadsheets since text is very defined on the edge next to white space.. a 4:2:2 or 4:2:0, you will notice that there is a fuzz of gray pixels.. so your text doesn't look sharp. Or the other case is that your movies have a lot of motion blur at 30 fps..

BEST ANSWER: We found that 30-foot passive cable would not work when the source was a smart phone. We switched to an active cable and it works fine. Just remember that an active cable is directional (Only one end is specified as "source"). When the source was a computer, both the active and passive 30-foot cables worked fine.

If the cable is less than about 40ft, the difference between active and passive is mostly the specs alone. So if the passive cable has the same bandwidth, rating & HDCP as the active one; save money and go with the less expensive cable which is usually the passive one. I hope this helps. In my install business, we only use active cables when the run is longer than a passive cable will handle.

Monoprice 4K Certified Premium High Speed Slim HDMI Cable - 4K60Hz, 18Gbps, HDR, CL3 Rated, 6ft, Black
BEST ANSWER: 13590 is an active cable which has a chip to boost data transmission. This allows for a thinner cable and boosts the data transmission in long cable runs. They are also directional which means data will only pass in one direction. For a 6ft length I don’t think you would notice any difference. For additional information do a search on active HDMI cables.

i need 2 HDMI cables to:
1. connect TV straight to cable box (10' length)
2. connect TV to a Processor (10' length) where all other video devices connect to (PS3 & Wii)
i know the "Active" cables are best used for direct connection from TV to devices, but will a "Active" cable work THROUGH a processor and display the video from the video sources (PS3 & Wii) along with playing the audio?
FYI: i am currently using the Passive Slim HDMI cables from my Processor to all my video sources and everything works great.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. We would not recommend having the TV labeled end plugged into a processors input for the TV end has the active chipset inside of it and requires 5V of power that the TV's HDMI input will provide. If you are looking to have 18Gbps, I would recommend using our Certified Premium High Speed HDMI cables. Such as Product ID 15429.

Hi, my current set up is what I would like to keep the next one laid out like. I plan on getting a 4k receiver with full specs it has 4k in's and an output to the tv and the output on the receiver is also 4k compliant. Currently with my 1080p I have my blu-ray player, and ps4 connected to the receiver and the out from the receiver to the television. My question is if I do the same thing but with all 4k UHD compliant components: receiver, ps4 pro with 4k, oppo uhd bd player can I hook up all the cables to my compliant 4k receiver with the tv in part of the cable to the receiver with an 4k compliant output to the tv without connecting all my devices to the tv directly? Everything in the chain will be 4k uhd spec including the output on the receiver. All my cables are under 15ft. Thanks in advance.

Hi. I'm having issues with this cable not displaying an image. I have it connected to a Mac mini as the source, and going to a receiver - which then outputs to a TV. When swapping out the cable with one that came with a PS5, this cable does work. Is this cable truly rated for 4K ? I had a similar issue with connecting a Roku (Ultra model, I believe) with 4K / HDR directly to an LG OLED. I got no signal with this slim cable, but did get a signal once I swapped with an HDMI that came with a monitor..

Fair Price, Works Great
I always turn to Monoprice for my cabling needs. This particular cable was needed for my first foray into using Arc to route sound from my TV to my receiver. It works just fine and my concerns about being able to get it to work are non existent. I knew when I purchased this cable that if I did have an issue, it was not going to be because the cable couldn't handle the high speed signal.

Good upgrade but some caveats...
...this cable replaced Monoprice Select Series High Speed HDMI Cable, which is a great cable but too bulky for newer, thinner TVs...
1) followed a reviewer's advice to only use one active cable from the source to TV - NOT to use them in series. So used passive HMDIs from equipment (PS4 and satellite box) to receiver (Yamaha RX-A550), then active from receiver to TV (TCL 43" series 5). Also worked perfectly when directly connecting a PS3 and Apple TV 4th gen to a Samsung TV
2) would not work with an Apple TV 4K using Dolby Vision (though will work with HDR). Resulted in snow, white flashes, and audio pops

Bought for Nintendo Switch
Needed a slim HDMI cable so that I could plug it into the Nintendo Switch dock and still have enough room to plug a wireless adapter into the USB port next to it. This cable worked perfectly and looks to be very high quality.
