I am not sure if it works on HDR or TV. I have a Dell computer that does not have HDMI port so I use this cable to connect the digital display port to a HDMI port. It does transfer the video but NOT audio.

Is the cable bidirectional? i.e can I connect my laptop with a HDMI port to a monitor with Displayport?

BEST ANSWER: No. This is not how DisplayPort works. The source (your laptop) must be the DisplayPort end. Any DisplayPort cable you find is this way. DP-HDMI, DP-DVI, etc... whatever is generating the signal must be DisplayPort, and the receiving end can be anything.

Definitely not bidirectional. I bought three to interface HDMI outputs to three HP Compaq LA2206x monitors with DVI. None of them worked.

I see it says that it supports 4K. Will this support a 2560x1080 monitor?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Yes, it can support 2560x1080. I would recommend making sure that the HDMI input on your monitor is not limited to certain resolutions. I hope this helps.

Is this an "active" cable? I need an active Display port to HDMI for my Caldigit hub, but want a cable rather than an adapter. does the 1.2a mean it is active?

4K throughput is perfect. Allows 3 HDMI on Nvidia 1080ti
I have a Nvidia 1080ti with only one HDMI port. With these cables I was able to add two TVs to the one I had to make a superwide 4K@60hz setup. For those of you interested, 4K gaming is possible with reasonably priced TVs. I use three 43" LG 7300 TVs recommended by rtings.com. They were cheap at Costco. This setup is pretty great!
Yes, few games can run well at 3x4K but future video cards will have the power needed. With these cables I'll be ready for the upgrade. There are utilities to allow you to switch between 3x4K and 3x1080p. Look for "Monitor Profile Switcher".
