I accidentally installed these cables backwards within a finished wall. I didn’t realize they were uni-directional. Are there any adapters that I could use to switch the direction? Or is my only course of action to abandon the wires and run new ones? Any suggestions would help. Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: One is a transmitter (source) and the other end is a receiver ( TV). If you switch them , the transmitter is at the TV which does no good.. You could cut cut both ends off and flip them, but splicing the correct wires together and maintaining GHz bandwidth would be very difficult.

Johnathen. I dont believe there is an adapter that will reverse the direction on these cables or they wouldnt be uni-directional. Ask monoprice for sure. I have run 5 of these of different lengths (up to 40ft) and they all work great

No, I believe it only works in one direction. Can you attach another wire or rope, and pull it out? Then use the rope to pull it back though in the correct orientation.

I plan on using a patch cable from my surround system to a wall plug, which will plug into a 40' monoprice cable, to a projection TV, do you forsee any issues if the patch cable is high quality?

BEST ANSWER: The good news with HDMI is that it usually either works or it doesn’t, so you’ll probably know right away, and odds are good it will work fine, but make sure that your patch cable supports the same HDMI standards as your 40-footer, and make sure your 40-footer is ACTIVE (not passive like most shorter HDMI cables) & unidirectional (not bi-directional like most HDMI cables, meaning the input needs to be connected to the “source” end of the cable and the output (tv/projector) to the “sink” or “display” end of the cable.
Lastly, the GENERAL advice for cables over 25 ft is that they plug directly in from source device to display device, with no wall plates, connectors or patch cables in the way. That will always give you the best & fastest connection. However that may not always be doable (in many cases you may have more inputs than your display can connect at one time) and you’ll need to add a receiver, switch or other such device in the middle. But powered, intelligent, good quality HDMI switching devices between source and display are typically going to be less problematic than connecting via wall plates & keystones.
Enjoy!

I used this 40’ cable with another 10-15’ patch HDMI . It sounds like the exact same scenario. There have been no issues with that setup to date.

This says it is High Speed. Does it have 18Gbps throughput? I want it to be able to connect the Caberet Series HDMI (#12961) and the Premium HDMI (#15428) cables for 1 run for 4k. The caberet would be in wall, and pops out of wall to connect directly to the display. The other would run from the Source to the wall outlet.

Monoprice 4K High Speed HDMI Cable - 4K@60Hz, 18Gbps, HDR, CL2 In-Wall Rated, Active, 40ft, Black
Monoprice 2-port 2-piece Inset Wall Plate with 4in Built-in Flexible High Speed HDMI Cable With Ethernet, White
Monoprice 4K Certified Premium High Speed HDMI Cable - 4K60Hz, 18Gbps, HDR, 6ft, Black
BEST ANSWER: Per my chat with customer support, this two piece insert wall plate 7332 will NOT support 4K. You will need a female to female pin connector keystone jack 6852 and the 2-hole wall plate 6727. Also, so that you don't void your home insurance, you will need two CL2 rated HDMI in-wall cables 3659 to connect from bottom plate to top plate. All these numbers correspond to Monoprice item numbers.

I'm running 4k with the keystone HDMI wallplate and 3x this cable without issues. 1 is in wall and 1 on each end. I did not use the caberet series.

It is my understanding that this speed will support Dolby Vision and HDR10 for 4k, up to 60 frames per second. If you want to future proof your setup, then you can go with a 48Gbps cable which would support higher frame rates and 8k resolution when that comes around.

BEST ANSWER: Assuming your 2011 Samsung TV can supply 5 volt power over the HDMI port, this cable should work fine. But I would check your manual or contact Samsung tech support.

Performs as well as Audioquest
I've had two AQ cables (processor to display) in my system: 4K Cinnamon and 4K Blueberry, both 18gb however the length was still not long enough. To get the length I needed would cost me $$$ beyond my budget. So, I've done satisfied business with Monoprice since 2011 and decided to take a look. This is a 4K 18gb cable and by golly it performs as well as the two other AQ cables at a fraction of the cost. Monoprice, thank you for being here!!

Didn't work passing from DVI adapter
Unfortunately I'm having handshake issues with the cable and couldn't get it to work satisfactorily. I've verified it's going in the right direction, but it seems it may be having trouble being converted to DVI at my pre pro. I've gone back to my Monoprice passive cable which is acceptable.

Perfect cable for long runs
Worked perfectly!! I had a problem sending dolby vision 4k content to my lg oled over my old hdmi cable. This cable worked perfectly right out the box. Remember when using this cable, it is a directional cable and the video signal goes only 1 way. So make sure you have it connected right and you should have no worries.
