All ports are passive ? Why they can use higher than 1080p ?

BEST ANSWER: All ports are passive. The 4K resolution is only 30fps, which means the device is transmitting about half as much data as a full-frame-rate 4K at 60p, which requires less power and allows the passive adapter.

Can you have multiple monitors open at once by using this box?
A shopper
on Apr 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No. This can only one connection to any of the three ports, not simultaneous. You would need an adapter for each monitor and a video card port assuming the video card or motherboard supports multiple monitors.

My laptop has HDMI output only. If I use a HDMI to VGA adaptor to connect to a projector, will the earphone output on my laptop function for audio?

on Jan 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you use an HDMI to VGA adapter yes your headphone jack would still output sound. Although I do want to make it clear that the product you have asked this question on is not an HDMI to vga adapter. This is a DISPLAY PORT to hdmi and vga . If all you have is hdmi out this product will not work for you.

Looking to connect this to my Lenovo X24 monitor for a second laptop input that has only VGA out - VGA-VGA cable from laptop, into this device attached to the monitor. Wanted to verify if this will work in this configuration attached to monitor vs. the laptop/computer end?

BEST ANSWER: No, this device is designed to convert display port into one of the three alternate signals, including analog VGA. It's not designed for the reverse. VGA conversion to a digital format will generally always need a powered conversion system, like PID 8214 or PID 4629. After converting to DVI or HDMI, you'll need a short cable to go with it. According to the specs I found about the X24, your monitor has an HDMI and a Displayport, so PID 4629 ($19.99) makes the most sense for your purposes. You can then use PID 13775 ($2.79) to complete the connection.

We are using this with a KVM. The problem is that the monitors won't wake up from sleep mode. I've turned off power saving on the PCs, but the monitors still go to sleep. Any ideas? 12802 DisplayPort 1.2a to 4K HDMI®, Dual Link DVI, and VGA Passive

The spec is misleading in so many ways. Displayport 1.2 requires HBR2 mode which supports 4k @75Hz. It is Displayport 1.0/1.1 if it can only do 4k @30Hz.
DP has 20 pins, how in the world does it support DVI dual link (25 pins) as a passive adapter?

Not my best experience
Received unit, set it up, and within a week, had connectivity issues. Later just disconnected unit and everything start working fine.

Nice product, good value. But not perfect.
Nice product, good value. As far as I can tell, it's identical to the adapter sold at Microcenter, aside from the branding. Unfortunately, the VGA port appears to do some kind of downscaling. This means that Windows won't recognize the correct monitor resolution if you use the VGA port. My workaround is to use a VGA-to-HDMI adapter into the HDMI port. It's not an ideal solution, but it does work.

Works great, but will only drive one external display at a time. Not an issue, but I thought possibly I could run 2 external displays with this unit, but can not. Only had available hardware to try HDMI and VGA at the time, so did not try HDMI and DVI, or DVI and VGA. But unit works great, and gives great flexibility to drive additional monitor that is other than Display Port. I carry this device with my laptop and additional monitor, as well as using on job sites where connectivity to customer hardware may be required. Great tool to have in your bag!

Worked perfect for me
I bought this to connect a brand new computer to an older WQHD 1440p 27" monitor that only had a dual link DVI connector. It worked perfectly and I am very happy with my purchase.

Works great on my WQHD 27" monitor
I just built a new computer and the new video card only has DP and HDMI out. My old 27" 1440p monitor only has dual link DVI in. This was the only product I could find that said it would make that conversion.
I saw the old reviews saying this thing wouldn't work, but that 1 new review said it does so I took a chance. I just hooked it up and it works perfect.

Not DualLink DVI
This is SingleLink DVI, and only supports 1080p, even on Monoprice's own monitors.
PROS: At least it doesn't keep my monitor awake like the adapter I got from Amazon.
CONS: Not as advertised, only works up to 1080p on DVI.
VGA did not work at all.
Tried with different cables, still no good.
