Does it work with Mac OS X 10.12.3?
jonathan j
on Jan 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, yes this works on Intel-based Macs with OSX 10.12.3 (which is actually newer than OSX 10.4 Tiger). This particular model needs USB 3.0 to run at full resolution, but it is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 though performance would be limited. Thanks.

It's running just fine on my 10.13.2 Mac. I did download the latest drivers from the site instead of using what came on the CD.

Does it work if my main video card is not working?
Alan H
on Mar 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. It could be possible though unlikely, the adapter would need to pull resources from the video card. You may experience issues if the second video card can not provide the resources required.
We do have a 30 day return policy. Should you purchase it and find it does not work, you can have it returned for a refund. I hope this helps.

Worked great to make sure our son was doing his school work
I picked up a cheap monitor and used this so my wife and I could make sure our son was really doing schoolwork remotely instead of surfing YouTube.
It would have been A LOT easier to register on the Wavlink site if Monoprice didn't cover up the model number!

Good product at this price.
Works as expected for a device like this. Video is not flawless, but I was able to watch streaming video.
Did not work with an HDMI Switcher.

Great for older monitors
I have one USB port capable of running an external monitor and needed a way of connecting a second. Both monitors are DVI, so this adapter worked great to hook up to the one HDMI port I had.

Works great with my MacBook Air 2013 on High Sierra (10.13.2)
Works well running a 1080p monitor. I did download the latest drivers instead of using the CD that came with it. I’m not confident the CD drivers will work with High Sierra. I use it only for work as a second monitor and it operates quite smoothly. There is a very tiny lag I would not use it for gaming. Also, I’ve noticed the driver takes a bit of CPU if I’m doing something like playing a video on that monitor. However, I currently have my Air running a 27” at 2560x1440 on the built-in miniDisplay port, a 22” at 1920x1080 using USB and this device as well as the built in monitor at 1440x900. I couldn’t do that on my Air with out this device and the only setup was installing the drivers and plugging everything in.

Exactly what I mean.
Very easy to install and was exactly what I had in mind to accomplish my dual screen setup.

Easy to set up and get running, fuzzy resolution
It was extremely easy to get going and running, pop in disc and voila. However, no adjustment or calibration on the monitor has been able to even compare with my main monitor. I'm hoping fiddling with another driver might prevail, however its a good thing that I mostly look at documents. If you are contemplating this for image editing, it would be better invested in just getting an additional video card.
PROS: easy set up
CONS: Considering past purchases, I suspect a better driver might do better with the adaptor than the stock monoprice-provided one. As strong as their products, the drivers just seem weak to barely competent.
