Is the foam in separate layers or is it one big block of foam? If in separate layers how thick is each layer of foam? Also is it pick foam where you can customize?

BEST ANSWER: The layers are ~2” deep, and they are similar to other brands’ “pluck/pull” customizable foam.

On average how many layers of foam are there? I realize that each may be different but also how thick are the layers?

will this fit in airline overhead bin or under seat?

BEST ANSWER: No, this is too large for carry on. But the smaller 22 x 14 x 10 will fit most overhead bins.

Has the handle issue been resolved, as I read in a user’s reviews.? And what about the actual weight? One user says 29 lbs empty while the description says 24 lbs. This is very important to stay within airline baggage limits.

BEST ANSWER: Nope, looks like the handle is a solid piece now and not like the photos. I just got mine yesterday and might have to rethink how I use the mounts I wanted on the exterior.

Great case, sub par foam
This is a GREAT heavy-duty case, perfect for travel and protecting your gear, but there is no option for replacement foam option.
To replace foam I recommend getting replacement foam for the Pelican 1620 case. It's about 90 bucks.

Great for airline luggage!
This was the largest case they had available within the standard size luggage requirements for airline carriers. It's been on several trips now and has held up great! The only reason it's not a 5 Star review is because I wish it had luggage style wheels for ease of navigating the airports.

Possibly overkill
A little heavy, but makes a pretty good hurdy gurdy case.

Does the job
It's heavy and a bit of a beast, but it seems sturdy and gets the job done.

OK but low cost for a reason
I found this case to be a good value for the money at first, but not so much over time.
The hinges don't align so well making the case a little bit hard to close when loaded up.
The second headache is that the handle fell off. It didn't break The retaining pin that locked it in place came off on the plane. When I went to pick up the case, only a handle in my hand. The handle pin had come off. I hope that Monoprice can get me a new one.

Very Impressed with this Case! 5 Stars!
I didn't know a lot about this company, but I decided to order this case from them because they were the best price I was able to fine.
To my surprise the hard case was solid from a construction stand point and delivered when they said it would be. They get 5 starts from me!

Great Price, Nice Case, Horrible Foam
This case is nice and sturdy and the price is perfect. It's half as much as other cases by companies I've used in the past, which is a good selling point. The problem is the foam inside. While I was plucking the foam I thought that it felt flimsy and it didn't take long to realize I was right. After packing the case and arriving at a shoot, I opened the case to see all the foam wrinkled up and my video accessories slid to the side with the wheels from rolling the case. That instantly makes the case worthless to me since I need the foam and if I have to buy new, better foam then the price shoots right up to the price of the cases I've always used. I'm definitely upset but, I can't skimp when it comes to expensive video equipment.
PROS: Price, Quality of exterior
CONS: Foam is flimsy and won't protect my gear, handle configuration takes away from available inside space.
