Bought one of these last year because of the lighting function and am happy with the purchase. Used for reading food labels/instructions and working on robot vacuums. The bifocal 4x lens is small but adequate for my needs. The weight is negligible which means it never gets heavy in my hand.

Basically, this magnifying glass is worth it's price.



This magnifying glass is lightweight due to it being mostly plastic components and small, LR44 batteries. It has a sharp, wave-free lens with great magnification in bifocal area. The light underneath is extremely helpful since you're usually blocking at least some portion of external light sources when holding a magnifying glass close to an object.

I already had an small lighted magnifier that is probably 4x and about 2" in diameter. I mainly use a magnifier to read the almost invisible printed specs on electronics. An LED light is essential. I didn't realize this magnifier was so big. Great for reading page of print. Downside of this item is the 4x lens is quite small.

This is a "10" rated item for those who have need for general print reading.

PROS: Has built-in light. Large. Easy to handle

CONS: The "main" lens is large and god for enlarging smallish print on a printed page. It is a 2x magnifier. Within that main lens is a 4x magnifier. Very small lens.

Great magnifier for the price. Especially love the light as compared to other non-lighted magnifiers I have purchased.

CONS: Not really a con, but would purchase a glass lens magnifier in a heartbeat. The plastic lens are too easily scratched.

Overall, a competent illuminated magnifier that allows me to remove my reading glasses and still be able to read 4-point type with the main lens and 2-point type with the bifocal inset lens.



The item title accurately and clearly states "(requires 3x LR44 Batteries, installed & included)"



As of this writing, the item description confusingly states: "It is powered using an LR44 battery and the package includes three LR44 batteries." That might lead a user to assume that one battery is required and three are provided. Three are needed, three are provided, they are already installed, so don't expect to see spare batteries in the package.



The batteries should last a very long time given they are only powering a small LED, but if you eventually have to change them, you'll need a 1 or smaller Phillips screwdriver to get the battery door off.



PROS:

-Compact size for purse or pocket (overall 7" long, 3-3/8 wide at lens rim.)

-Fairly robust (not fragile, unlikely to break from a trivial incident.)

-Light weight

-Light is bright enough to illuminate the area being observed without overpowering and washing out text.

CONS:

-A previous review refers to missing "spare batteries". See below for explanation.

-It would be nice if it came with a microfiber bag to keep it in, so it would stay free of dog hairs and whatnot. But for the price, this is not a deal breaker.

PROS: this magnifying glass actually fits into a shirt pocket. The led light is particularly bright and it has become quite handy. It seems that it might be large enough not to easily misplace.
