What are the best connectors to use to connect a 12AWG speaker wire to the back of the ABS Speaker enclosure?

BEST ANSWER: I drilled a hole (the exact diameter of the 12 awg cable I used) in the side of the enclosure as close to the back as possible and fed the cable through and cauked both on the inside and outside of the enclosure with 30 year cauk. I left extra cable on the inside so that I could easily connect the cable directly to the speaker terminals, I didn't use the enclosure terminals.

The enclosure has spring-loaded binding posts, so they will not accept terninals. I used 14 ga wire with mine, but I believe that 12 ga wire will fit in the binding post. It should be noted that the wire inside the enclosure is 16 ga. If you want to replace it, it will have to be desoldered and replaced with your larger wire.

They come with spring loaded speaker terminals. You push down on the terminal and the holes line up so you can insert the wire, then release the terminal and the wire is pinched in for a secure connection.

You only need to insert the speaker wire into the back of the speaker enclosure. I don't believe any connectors will fit... it is a spring loaded clamp.

How are these installed? Can you install from below the ceiling (as in a retrofit) or do you have to install from above the ceiling/prior to hanging drywall as in a newbuild?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your interest in these back cans. The cans attach to the back of the speaker prior to hanging. If speakers are in place you can carefully remove them and attach the can and replace in the same hole.

You install them directly on the back of the in wall speakers. Then you install the speakers. If you already have speakers installed in the wall you just drop them down and attach to the back

BEST ANSWER: I believe these enclosures only work with 4103. That's what I'm using with a Bluetooth amplifier Marantz NR1605. You could use something cheaper like a Douk Audio HiFi Bluetooth 5.0 Stereo Power Amplifier

These are wired speakers. You'll have to hook them up to a Bluetooth capable amplifier. I use a Marantz NR1605. Or more affordable Douk Audio DZ076_S would work fine.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Yes these back enclosures would fit the 6.5" Caliber Ceiling Speakers though it would be screwed to the speaker. There would not be a Quick-Lock option.

BEST ANSWER: Just taking a guess 5- 6 quarts maybe a little more/less? I used these in a ceiling, they keep out the loose insulation which would of been a problem, and it added to the sound quality as well as making them all sound the same since the area was open differently at each location. I'm glad I ordered them even though they not cheap. The system sounds very good and my client is impressed with his new 6 zone system.

I know it's been stated that these won't work with the Alpha 6.5" speakers (13684), but I am wondering if anyone has tried it? Since they dont' sell the metal back enclosures any longer for the Alpha series 6.5", I'm looking for anything that will work at this point.

A must for ceilings with insulation
These are a must for ceiling speakers when attic insulation occupies the your installing speakers into. They fit the PID 4104 speakers perfect and prevented any insulation from entering the speakers.

They fit snugly around the speakers and really help reduce noise bleed
I bought these enclosures along with the matching speakers and the enclosures really reduce sound bleed into the floor above. This was really important for me because my master bedroom sits right above the living room where these speakers are installed. I didn't want to disturb my partner who might be sleeping if I'm still up watching tv. Also, the enclosures help keep out dirt, dust and fiberglass insulation from falling onto the speakers!

Really makes the bass a home run!
I got these to keep blown insulation out of the speakers, but they REALLY make a difference in the sound. Highly recommended, don't bother installing without them unless you have a solid box you're using.
