Which speaker terminal goes with the writing on the wire please?
A shopper
on May 16, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
The individual cables do not have a polarity so you would just want to be sure that you have the negative and positive channels on the same cable.
Mixing up which cable you provide to the negative and positive port can damage your devices and lower your audio quality.

It doesn't matter as long as you keep it consistent. I usually do black terminal with the writing, but that's just me.

Which ever one you want. Just make sure that you put it on the same terminal on each speaker so they will be in phase with each other.

If I understand the question it doesn’t make any difference. Just make sure that you make both ends of the wire the same.

Doesn't really matter because the wire is the same but I usually use the writing on the red terminals

Either one, but if you use it with red on your reviewer you should use it on red on your speaker.

Any ideas on how to adhere this to an outdoor overhang (painted wood) on the outside of my house...for outdoor Bose speakers?

BEST ANSWER: I used #18 x 3/4" wire brads to mount the speaker wire. You have to be careful and make sure the wire brad goes through the exact center between the two wires and then hammer the brad in until flush with the insulation.. I've used this procedure a number of times through the years and at different houses and I've never had a problem.

Two sided foam tape should work well since this cable has a flat side. Otherwise you can buy clips that have built in nails at your local home improvement store.

You are running the speaker wire horizontally on the wall. How do you then turn/twist the wire to go vertically up to the speaker? Does the wire plastic covering stretches/contract to make a smooth vertical turn?

It doesn't really stretch, no. We ran the cable horizontal on one wall, then ran it vertically on the conjoining wall. So it's a 45 degree twist to make the direction change, not a 90 if we tried to go up the same wall. And we made the turn near the base board so it's not really noticeable being so low to the ground.

I made turns on the floor like this but I would not expect the wire to lie completely flat. It is not a flat ribbon but strands of round copper wire. I think you need to allow the bend to be a bit rounded as you don't what to break the strands.

I forgot to mention you simply make a 45 deg fold in the corner where you want to change direction 90 deg.

Can anyone recommend a cable clip that can accommodate this speaker cable?
Benjamin L

BEST ANSWER: Surebonder #5 staples with the .504” crown are wide enough to straddle the cable and hold it flat. I just put 18GA brad nails down the centerline of the cable. That works pretty well and is nearly invisible. There’s enough distance between conductors in the cable that I wasn’t worried about shorts. It’s been working great for a few months that way.

What your strapping too affects my answer, but the flat wire folded on itself, I think will work with zip ties, and some cable ties that have a small screw attached often used on baseboards.

I used Sewell Direct SW-29751-6 Silverback Banana Plugs, but wire is of a gauge that almost any sort of plug or clip should hold it with out an issue.

I meant for clipping to the wall - most nail-in clips I've been able to find aren't wide enough to accommodate it

Is the printing on both side or just one side?

I'm going from memory as I used the whole roll on my install and it is all wedged under the base board or under carpet. I am 95% sure the printing is on one side only.

Can this be painted and attached to a wall corner?
A shopper
on May 10, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Most likely. Its a vinyl insulation so i would wipe it with alcohol or other oil free solvent before painting. Depending on what subtrate you want to attach it to I would think a high tack 2 side tape might hold it ok. Like 3M 926 or higher tack. For a more permanent solution you could alternate tape and liquid nails and or use small brads between the wires. Also hot glue may work for your application

Though flat, these look pretty wide. Does the insulation fit into the opening of Monoprice's banana plugs (straight or right-angle)?
Andy S
on Nov 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm guessing it's a "no". The description says it's got an overall size of 12.4 mm x 2.0 mm, which means each wire is presumably about 6.2 mm wide with the insulation. Looking at the banana plug description, it says it can get a maximum of 12 ga. I assume the insulation goes into the plug. The description says the diameter of said wire is about 5.40 mm, which is smaller by about 0.8 mm.
However, I'm quite sure you can trim the insulation on the flat wire by about an mm to make it work. That's my plan anyway.

Great wire.
Nice and flat and easy to maneuver and staple. It also maybe slightly thicker then 16AWG, possibly 15, definitely not 14 however.

Flat out great !
Need to run some Home Theater rear speaker wire under a carpet. This was perfect. Easy to work with, very low profile, and marked so you can keep the polarity correct. Wire laid flat with no noticeable bump in the run. ( crosses 12ft. of rug)
Highly recommend.

You get what you pay for
Pretty standard audio cable at a fair price. Easy to conceal with the flat casing. Not sure if it's the cables, but it seems to be a bit finicky at the connection points. I've had audio drop and it gets fixed once you give the cable a wiggle. Worth the money though.
