Monoprice USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
Monoprice Select Series USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
BEST ANSWER: When using Realtek's device driver (v10.34) for this Ethernet adapter Windows' Device Manager shows the "Jumbo Frame" property (in the advanced properties tab), and the largest Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) Value you can choose is "9KB MTU".
I have not been able to confirm this adapter properly sends and receives 9,000 byte jumbo frames, but some type of jumbo frame support is exposed through Realtek's driver for Windows 10.

When this adapter is connected to a USB 2.1 / 2.0 port, the maximum Ethernet speed you might get is 480 Mbps. In practice, the peak Ethernet speeds you'll get when connecting this adapter to a USB 2.1 port will be < 480 Mbps;
To give you an example, I was able to get an (average) Ethernet speed of 339 Mbps using my Monoprice USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter connected to a USB 2.1 port and performing a network performance test for 90 seconds with iPerf3.
The actual network speeds you may see when connecting this Ethernet adapter to a USB 2.1 port on your Windows or Chrome laptop will vary based on a variety of factors.

Will this adapter work for booting into PXE? (Driverless)
Alexander L
on Aug 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No — PXE boot is not plug-and-play (driverless) with this adapter.
To use this adapter for PXE boot you could try using an open source PXE boot client (e.g., iPXE), since it's unlikely your computer's BIOS would have the pre-boot execution environment drivers and PXE client support for this adapter.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Unfortunately we would not have any information regarding the HD23 5.0MP Allwinner device. If it does not have support for USB to Ethernet adapters then it would not work. I would recommend reaching out to the manufacturer of your device regarding its capabilities for using such an adapter. I hope this helps.

Does it support vlan tags ?
A shopper
on Oct 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: When using Realtek's device driver (v10.34) for this Ethernet adapter Windows' Device Manager shows the "Priority & VLAN" property (in the advanced properties tab), and the default value is set to "Priority & VLAN Enabled". The "VLAN ID" property is also shown in the list of advanced properties for this adapter, where the default value is "Not Present".
I have not been able to confirm this adapter properly sends and receives IEEE 802.1Q tags for VLANs, but some type of VLAN support is exposed through Realtek's driver for Windows 10.

Working great so far
Using this on Debian Linux. I was able to install the necessary firmware from default repositories, and added it to /etc/network/interfaces once I figured out the name of the device. I haven't stress tested it, but my switch isn't gigabit. I got this because it was only a few dollars more than the USB 2.0 10/100 adapter, and I figured I'd go future-proof for when I upgrade the network.

Works like a charm
It's been in use for only a month, but it was plug and play and has had no issues thus far. I'll defer to others on things like capacity and speed, but it's no slower than the previous WIFI we used, and works well with our 500 Mbps service. Compact and lightweight, so it's good for travel. Grateful to have a budget conscious hardwire connection that simply works.

Works as intended to go from built-in 100MB to 1GB
I used the device to connect to the USB 3.0 on my Sony 4K Bravia TV to increase the internet speed to 1GB since the built-in ethernet port is only 100MB. For the Sony Bravia 4K streaming it states it requires a minimum of 80MB so I wanted to have as fast as possible internet connection and I did not want to connect through Wi-Fi as I do not have a Wi-Fi 6 router and try to avoid using Wi-Fi if I can hard wire it. I tested the speed after hook-up and I received 800MB download speed and about 200MB upload speed. I noticed software updates download faster as well.
