There is no keyhole hanger on the speakers. The speakers have a threaded mount so you would need some sort of wall mount bracket. Note that they state 1/4" mount.Almost all brackets on the market are 1/4"-20 (industry standard). The speakers I had received, new batch from Oct 2016 had threaded mounts that were incorrectly built with 1/4"-28 threaded inserts. Hopefully, Monoprice got this corrected but beware as trying to put a 1/4"-28 screw into a 1/4"-28 insert can have disastrous consequences for the particleboard enclosures. Customer service was a pleasure to deal with.

No. Purchasing this Item alone is only speakers. You will need speaker wire, and speaker mounts. Try part number 3012 for mounts. they screws are not the correct ones but a quick trip to the hardware.

Subwoofer Connection Question
I bought this system and was shocked to see there are right and left RCA inputs for the subwoofer. The manual says:
"Subwoofer outputs are monophonic, so if you have two subwoofer outputs then they are intended to drive two separate subwoofers. To make this connection you will need a cable with a single RCA on one end, which splits into two RCA plugs on the other end."
Really??? I have never seen a subwoofer with a right and left input, and it is just a single woofer in the enclosure. So this really has me confused, and I feel like I am missing something. It did not come with this unusual splitter but did come with a pair of RCA connectors which I cannot figure out when, if ever, those would be used on it. So it all has me quite confused, and I feel like I am missing something or the instructions have a serious omission.
Do I really have buy a splitter? What if I just input on the left or right ... would it still give me full power or would I have only half powered subwoofer?

BEST ANSWER: The left and right are parallel inputs that couple together in the circuit. This sub is compatible with most AVRs that only have 1 Subwoofer LFE out. You will not lose or gain any volume by using one or both of the Left/Right inputs.

This is not about power it is about the bass signal coming from each channel of your amplifier. You have bass signals coming from both the right and left channel of your amplifier. If you just take the signal from the left side of your amplifier, you will only get the bass signal from your left channel of the amplifier, and any bass signal coming from the right channel will not go to your subwoofer, but only to you regular speakers.
This particular subwoofer allows for you to run your full right and left channel output from your amplifier to the subwoofer and the crossover in the subwoofer will sort out only the low frequencies to go to the subwoofer. It will eliminate any frequencies above where you set the crossover frequencies going to the subwoofer, thereby allowing the subwoofer to only handle the frequencies it is meant to handle. The splitter is needed to take the right and left channel signals and send one signal to the subwoofer and another signal to the regular speakers. If you also know the low frequencies your regular speakers go down to (for these speakers that is about 110 htz, and the subwoofer covers frequencies from around 40 htz to 150 htz) then you would likely sent the subwoofer low pass filter at about 110 to 150 htz to cover the frequencies that the right and left speakers do not cover. You could also do the same thing by just buying some extra speaker wire and running two pairs of wire from both the right and left channels of your amplifier. Run one set to the subwoofer and the other set to the regular speakers. This subwoofer has both types of hookups available, so it is your choice. Use the same frequencie settings with the low pass filter with this hookup as well.
Hope this helped and did not just confuse the issue even more.

These products are designed using commodity components. Hence the lower price and still decent quality. The amp is likely a stereo model bridged to the sub for decent power at a lower cost. Use the splitter along with whatever subwoofer cable you would normally use. If you don't like it, get a more expensive speaker system.

Depends on your multichannel format and the internal amplification of the sub which is often 2 channels on a decent mono sub for the dual voice coils but in any event presuming the Subwoofer is dual voice coil 2 ch like any decent mono sub get the spitter anyway ,it's nothing new to need one for a decent mono sub .

If you only have one subwoofer, you don't need a splitter. Just plug the subwoofer cable into one of the subwoofer inputs. It's not going to give it half power or anything. I have two of these systems on 2 TVs and each just uses one RCA cable plugged into the left RCA input. Great bass. No problems.

Does this system come with speaker wire? If so, what lengths are they?
A shopper
on Jul 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: These speakers DO NOT come with speaker wire. However, Monoprice sells speaker wire at very reasonable prices. I found it worth while to upgrade to the 12AWG, especially for longer lengths (over 20'). I started with 16AWG and upgraded; the difference was obvious. I went with the Classic oxygen-free, pure copper wire but I don't claim to have the expertise to know how much difference that makes. I just figured better wire, better sound.

BEST ANSWER: This is a legitimate speaker system...not a "Home Theater in a Box". No, you can't just plug your computer into it. You will need a receiver to power the speakers, speaker wire/cabling and connect all the speakers back to your receiver, That said, its a fantastic sounding system for the size and tremendous value. I bought this for my "game room" for the kids to play their consoles and watch occasional football and soccer in a 16ft X 24ft room. It fills the room with surround sound and decent bass without a problem. Its all hooked up to an 85w Pioneer Elite receiver. It is an awesome speaker for average sized rooms or a beadroom

Since this is just a speaker system, you will need to connect it to a 5.1 receiver. So, you will need speaker wire, cable to connect the subwoofer etc.
Unless you have a shelf located where you want each speaker you will also probably want speaker stands or mounting brackets for the satellite speakers. I bought mine here and they work great.

BEST ANSWER: There is not an amplifier. This is the speaker(s) (only) setup for your already existing 5.1 channel electronic components. With that said, I've been using them for a year+ and I'm pretty happy with the sound. I use these in my bedroom, so they haven't been limit tested. The sub sounding as good or better than my Klipsch in the living room. Although, they do not have (what I call) standard mounting. With a quick search I did not find the correct mounting hardware for these on monoprice. They require a shaft like piece that fits through the bottom of the speaker.

Can anyone compare this to the sub that comes with the Premium 5.1 system (10565)? I have the latter and looking to add some deeper extension and more bass coverage. I'm curious how this compares, and possibly if anyone has used both together. Thanks!

Monoprice Premium 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System with 12in Subwoofer (9723)
I do not have the Premium 5.1 channel sub but i do have the 150 watt Powered sub. I really like it. It has a crossover knob that lets you adjust which frequencies are coming out of it. (effectively a High pass filter). obviously at 150 watts Its not the loudest thing in the world, but for my home system its perfect.

Can the rear surround speakers be mounted on the wall, even though they have a rear firing port? If so, how? How much "breathing room" do you recommend for the surround speakers if not mounted on the wall?
A shopper
on Nov 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: To mount the speakers on a wall you will need sometype of mounting system that takes advantage of the 1/4 " mounting hole on the back. The mounting system that you use will hold the speaker off the wall. I just looked in my manual for these speakers and I didn't see anything about for a distance from wall. My mounts hold them off about 3".

Why are you even using pin connectors on everything but the subwoofer? I am using 16 AWG speaker wire end twisted and inserted into the clip connector. It works just fine.. Obviously the subwoofer takes RCA jacks.

How easy is it to disassemble the satellite speakers to paint white?
A shopper
on Dec 17, 2017
I don't think it's that easy. The speaker box is made of one piece (glued parts and covered with a black layer of melamin or similar material, where you can't see the joints or "seams"). You can unscrew the speaker and tweeter components but that's about it. I don't think paint would stick to the plastic like surface/finish.

These blue ray speakers?

These speakers are required to be used with an AV receiver that supports 5.1 output (5 speakers + subwoofer = 5.1). A Blu-Ray player could be hooked up to the receiver and 5.1 surround sound from the blue-ray media would be output on the speakers. The speakers will not be able to hook directly into a blu-ray player.

I see the satellite speakers have a 1/4" threaded hole for mounting. How many threads per inch? I've seen 1/4-20 and 1/4-28 both mentioned in the reviews and would like to know which, if either, is correct.

BEST ANSWER: I tired to force the bolt in and the amount of torque was enough to break the insert free from the enclosure. I pulled the speaker apart and separated the insert from the cabinet. This allowed me to hold the insert and really work the bolt in or even a thread cleaning tap if necessary. I did not need to tap anything. The threads just needed a little coaxing to screw in.
The 1/4-20 DOES NOT FIT the factory thread. I have since learned this is called a 1/4-20 coarse. Depending who you talk to some will also say a 1/4-20 narrow / fine. the 1/4-20 fine is actually a 1/4-28. ( 28 threads per inch vs. 20 threads per inch ). Another poster in review or question also said its a 1/4-28 NOT A 1/4-20. I had a gauge to make a comparison with and verified that a M6-1.0 also worked for me. So for me... M6-1.0 -14 ( 25.4 threads per inch or 1.0 mm between threads with 14 mm in length ) worked. I cant say if the 1/4-28 will work but my gut says yes. The depth of the insert is not great so even for the slight difference in thread space between the M6-1.0 and the 1/4-28, either work the same to a certain depth. Eventually the slight difference in thread space will let one bolt work and the other bolt will fail.
To install the insert, there is a nut holding the insert into the cabinet. On re-assembly I put a little thread lock on the insert so they wont get loose even for typical torque on the bolt into the speaker insert. The removal and install of the woofer to access the nut is straight forward.

No these are not magnetically shielded. Why do you need magnetically shielded speakers? Do you have a CRT (cathode ray tube) television that you want to use them next to? I would not worry about shielded speakers today with LCD screens unless you store your VHS, BETA, audio cassette, 8-track, and or open real tapes near them.

There is no easy way to connect this system to the speaker out of a 15-watt tube amp; all of the speakers are designed to be directly connect to an AV receiver.
In theory it is possible to connect them, but it would require wiring all the speakers together in such a way that the impedance of the system was within the acceptable range for the guitar amp's output and making an adapter for the connector.

The manual does not describe proper wall mount procedure for these speakers. It would help immensely if "How to Install using Recommended Wall Mount" is also added to existing manual. Can someone answer on the proper installation procedure using wall mounts?

BEST ANSWER: There's a threaded hole on the back of each speaker for use with mounts. Simply use a mount rated for the speaker weight and follow the mounts instructions on how to attach it to the speaker. I used these and they worked perfectly. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=11410

There are several wall mounts on the monoprice site. Check to see which ones will work with the speakers that you have.

Mounting nightmare, good sound
Mounting hardware on the back of all 4 speakers were 4 different sizes and didn't work with any mounts without modifications. The actual screw holes were all weird and installation was way more difficult than it should have been. Speakers sound great though if you just want to sit them on a shelf and not mount.

Value for money
Definitely value for the money.
* Volume levels are a bit high or low, haven't found the sweet spot (yet). For the price can't complain.
* Build quality is above average, again they are way better from the price point.
* These speakers are not Atmos (my receiver doesn't support Atmos anyways). Will definitely recommend spending a few extra bucks for the Atmos variant if your receiver supports for the Atmos variant.

Outstanding product ... 8 years and running!
Bought the 10565 set on August 2014 to set up with a RX-V675 and 8 years later both are up and running perfectly, being used for hours every day since. Satellites fell down accidentally from the stands a couple of times on this period and are now showing marks of age but still working perfectly same as sub and center. As someone mentioned, this are not high-end speakers but seeing this product quality and hoping the new ones maintain it, if time comes, I would buy them again with eyes closed.

Great intro speakers
Paired these speakers, which are my first set, with a Onyko TX-NR6100 receiver. Install was straight forward as was the set up. The mounting screws were a little off and I had to get a different screw, as described in other reviews. Still in the warm up phase so I have not pushed the system yet. So far I have been impressed with the sound quality with movies, music streaming and gaming. It has added a new dynamic to my entertainment experience. As of this writing, no issues with these speakers especially with the price.

5 Stars for the cost
This is not a high end speaker system but it is defiantly a great package for the price. I use this in my bedroom as I don't need a massive system. A couple of things that keep it from being the HT deal of all time.
First off they should use a slightly larger driver in the fronts and center. A 3" driver really struggles with the low end of mid bass. They don't sound bad, but they definably would sound WAY better with this small change.
Secondly the sub is just adequate. This is due to a few factors. First you need to set the cross over very high to help fill in the mid range.
Secondly it is not very powerful it is 8" though this helps with the midrange it really falls off on the sub sonic and you need near maximum gain to keep up with the satellites. Personally I would love to see a 10" sub. with 4 inch front stage, it would be way worth the small extra cost.
I don't run an EQ, but I am thinking this system would greatly benefit from one.
I am just pointing out where I see the price reflected. Don't let this shy you away, again at the price point on sale this is a great set that you would be very challenged to match from other brands.
