What size threads are on either end of the gooseneck? Standard 5/8" mic threads?

The gooseneck uses 5/8" threads, however, it accomplishes this on one end by providing an adapter from 3/8" to 5/8". This is not mentioned in the product listing, so just be aware. It does not appear to impact the performance for me in any way.

Would this work for miking a kick drum?

BEST ANSWER: I would think that it could successfully be used to mic a kick drum. I use it on the floor all the time but have not personally tried to mic drums with it. Seems like the height and the adjustability would work for your needs, though.

Yes, we do this in our band. Very solid mic stand without too heavy. Good to transport. depending on the kick drum you can sometimes put the mic inside the port, or at the very least right in front of the port or outside head.

Stable and Solid

Holds a mic. Really heavy base. The heaviest rig I?ve used on it is a Monoprice ribbon mic which came with a smaller shock mount - about 1 1/2 lbs total. I place this under a piano to capture resonance. It works great for that. Very stable.

Good For The Money

So far, so good. I really don't move it around that much so I don't know if it would hold together well if constantly being moved. I keep it primarily in front of my main recording tube amp. It works fine in that scenario.

Impressive little stand

I am currently using this device as a mic stand for a kick drum mic to record bass guitar. It is very sturdy and doesn't fall over. I'm definitely impressed, especially for the price.

Exactly what I needed

The stand base arrived quickly and is exactly as advertised. It works great as a small mic stand, or as a new base for a lamp that had one of those crappy concrete in plastic bases that turn to dust. Works great!

Ok but not great

I bought two of them and one of them the threading for the gooseneck does not attach to the base, so if you pick it up by the gooseneck it just falls apart.

Desktop gooseneck mic stand

This is a very well made and sturdy desk top microphone stand. I am currently using it for a web cam, but it would have no trouble holding a much heavier microphone.
