How is it on folding or winding up for storage?
Steve S
on Jul 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You certainly can’t fold it, but you really wouldn’t want to as that’s what breaks the wires. As for winding, you certainly can’t wind it up too small but you can easily wind it up in a 3 or 4 inch coil (I haven’t measured it) easily fitting in a sandwich, ziplock bag.

You can coil it up for storage with the diameter of the center circle around 2 inches. It is very flexible and doesn’t spring back. I use a small Velcro strap to keep the 6 foot cable coil stored.

You can't fold it up or make sharp angles like you can a regular wire. But I can roller it into a 3-4 inch coil

It’s on the stiff side. I wouldn’t try to coil the cord to tight for fear of kinking the cord

It wont wind as tight as a normal cable because of the metal sheath.

It winding the cable up produces the most compact size for storage.

No folding, but coiling it into a 2-3" diameter circle works fine.

Does the stainless steel cable scratch surfaces such as wood?
John L
on Jul 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The stainless steel "spring" wound over the cable does not seem to have sharp edges, I have not noticed any potential for scratching. However, it is metal, so if you put it on a wood surface and then walked on top of it or pressed down hard while scraping it across then yes, I imagine you could probably do some scratching. But under normal use, I doubt it would be an issue. The black version appears to be painted with some sort of black enamel, so might be a bit "softer". The silver one might have a clear coat too, but I can't really tell.

I have had my steel cable for about three months now, and it has not scratched the satin finish on my wooden night stand, nor does it catch on cloth surfaces. The steel sheath is coiled so there's some flexibility and stretch, but the flat outer surface has not marred the top of the nightstand.

No. Even though they have the metal encasing it is a very slick smooth surface.

It’s coated so it would be difficult for it to scratch wood.

It would be nice to see this in a 10' (3m) or even 15' (4.5m) length! Would this be a possibility?

Works great and great quality. I bought two; one for an iPhone and one for an iPad and it works perfectly for both. The metal parts works extremely well and it is basically an armored cable which should hold up much better against our cats than the normal cables we have been going through.

Arrived in a timely manner. Seems solid. Gave to teenager to see if they can use it without breaking it.

Good Cable... for a little while.
Cable worked great for a few weeks. After a few weeks it started to charge very slowly and the cable would get warm quickly too.
