can this be used like a closed screw type by accepting the wire in the back?
Michael M
on Nov 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can send the wire through the back but in this configuration, the wire will need to exit one side in order to be pinched between the body & screw.

No, the back allows you to put in another banana jack - it's part of the screw and doesn't allow you to crimp the wire the way a closed screw type works. If your concern is that you're working with stranded wire, my suggestion is to take your wire and tin it so you end up with a single large conductor and put it in the side. Alternatively you can add a pin connector or spade connector via crimping and put that in. If your concern is the space needed for side entry then your best bet is to just get a closed screw type.

Mike, I'm sorry if I'm a little late to respond and I'm not sure if I'll be able to help out.
With that being said these are two pieces, the bottom part is hollow and screws into the nipple/plug part on top. There is a tiny diameter hole in the nipple end but I don't think/know if that works the way I'm interpreting your question.

No, this kind of plug has the set screw on the back and the wire inserts in the side and gets clamped in place. These allow you to piggy back banana plugs on top of each other.

No, this ones are a little harder to keep on the wire as they don’t really have anything to hold the wire down. Even if you have the right gauge wire it can slip out.

Yes, you can do it that way, but it is easier to attach the wire through the side hole.

No, the screw in of the Wire is on the side and not in the back. Hope this help.

Can these plugs be stacked (can I plug one into the back of another)?
A shopper

BEST ANSWER: Yes; the back end of each plug has a Banana plug jack, so each plug can be plugged into on the back of another plug (and daisy chained if need be).

Will these plug into Monoprice Keystone Jack - Modular RCA w/Red Center (White)?
Eric M
on Mar 10, 2022
BEST ANSWER: I don’t think that’s a match. Banana plugs need to mate with banana jacks. RCA plugs and jacks are a different type of connection.

No. An RCA connection is not the same as a speaker terminal for which banana plugs are used.

BEST ANSWER: If you like to use banana plugs, these are just fine. I like them better than the other ones where the wire is inserted through the back screw.

You put the wire in the side. 12awg wire works just fine on these connectors though I wouldn't recommend them for a different reason.

Can this be used as an adapter to allow the use of a spade connector? Could a spade connector be tightened down on the back of the screw-in portion of the banana plug?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
Possibly, but we do not offer any spade connector adapters so we would not be certain.

very easy to short the wires
Because the wires are pushed through the connectors at right angle, the wires face each other directly and any small extension causes shorts. This is poor design as they could have angled the connectors or staggered the red & black holes so wires do not short.

Best Banana plugs on the market!
These all metal, heavy duty banana plugs are the best I've ever used. The plug end is a bit thicker than other brands, which means they fit snugly into the amplifier\receiver inputs where other brands tend to wiggle lose. They are very easy to attach speaker wires to in a very secure manner. The price for 5 sets is a great deal on Monoprice and are twice the price on other sites.
Thanks for another great deal on a quality product Monoprice!

Good fit for posts set at different spacing than those used by some receivers
I usually use the Monoprice Dual High-Quality Gold Plated Speaker Banana Plugs, but the Receiver I just got had a different spacing for the jacks so needed to use these instead. Very easy to affix the wires and they provide a good connection to the jacks.
