BEST ANSWER: The PVC sleeve is about 1/2 in diameter. I have several of these and each is just thinner than one XLR plug.

About the size of a 16 gauge AC extension cord. The individual cables are very thin.

How long is each individual split section of the cable? I'm going to be recording drums, but I need each individual section to be long enough to reach each drum mic.

BEST ANSWER: I recommend picking up a 6-pack of 6 to 10 foot XLR extenders... the leads are long enough to spread out on the mixer, but not much longer. I use the snake as transportation, from the mixer to the devices out on the floor (speakers, lighting, etc) Then, spread out from there.

Split sections are pretty short, not long enough to do what you want. I use it for live drum mixing to get to the drums, I find I need to add 15foot cables for the overheads and 10 footers for the rest.

Off the top of my head, I'd say each individual split is about 12", at either end of the snake. You'd need to have some additional smaller XLR cables to use with drum mics.

Sorry I meant the split section is only 6 " on each side and then connected for the remaining 2' of the 3' cable I bought

Perspective
I could have run out of the box but that's not me. I tear everything apart. Strain reliefs displayed impressions on casings and wires appeared solid with pin 1 shield insulated at joint. I added a wrap of gaffer tape to the casing to increase grip pressure a bit; makes me comfortable. Still, I'd never pull on the wires, always the connector. These are not a big hefty cable but also without the hefty cable price. I expect good service so long as i treat with respect. Good value IMO.

work well; questionable workmanship
These snakes have an outer sleeve for most of the length with shrink tube at each end. I removed the shrink wrap to expose more individual wire so i could mic a drum set. on both ends the inner wires? insulation was cut right where the outer sleeve ends, indicating the cut of the outer sleeve went too deep. (i?d post pics but it?s at my band practice space). functionally i?ve had no problems, but that?s just sloppy to cut insulation then cover it with shrink tube.

Decent. You'll need a soldering iron.
I have a bunch of these of different lengths that I use in my studio and have purchased for event spaces and broadcast radio stations that I've worked at. In radio, the engineers just grab them out of the box and re-solder everything before I use them because the quality control is....questionable. But decent connectors, wire and wrap. I've fixed a number of them for my own studio and put them back into service. So, good for install locations, not so durable for anything that needs to move and be re-patched, in my opinion.

Can't beat the price
This mic snake is perfect for my needs. It is a no frills snake that does just what it is supposed to do and alleviated a tangled mess of mic cables around my feet.

Just as I planned
Perfect for going from my sub-snake out to the performers mics and monitors. Appears to be of good build quality, especially for the price.

Great so far!
I was a little concerned these would be a bit flimsy and not hold up, but so far in the studio setting they have worked great.
If you are using them in a controlled situation they are perfect.
Would they last the rigors of gigging?
Maybe.. but but 2 of them for backups and you still come out spending less.
In the mean time you have the option of using several snakes as needed!
