does this Cable require additional power? If so, is it by 5v or 12v battery? thanks

BEST ANSWER: No, it draws power from the USB port. I would not suggest using this with a device at the other end which also requires USB power.

Why is that? I ask because it wont work with my Fanatec Club Sport Wheel base. I have to connect the wheel base directly to the USB port of the XBOX 1 X.
USB data is only designed to go a maximum of 5 meters. To make it go this distance, the repeater has to amplify the data signals. In order to do this, it "steals" power from the DC signal. Therefore, at the other end, you may not have enough DC power for your device. If that is the case, you need to add the power adapter to this cable (Monoprice Product # 2220).

BEST ANSWER: It depends on the power requirement of the camera. If it is too much for the USB jack from the computer use the adapter below at the end of the cable for additional power.

BEST ANSWER: I don't believe so. The USB 2.x standard allows for 7 tiers of hubs or repeaters with a maximum distance between of 5 meters. The devices on each end count against this total, leaving 5 repeaters. That allows 6 spans of 5 meters, or a total of 30 meters. I imagine the 25 meter cable has 4 internal repeaters, leaving one for a hub on the device end. Note that some motherboards and add in cards multiply their ports by including a hub that counts against this 7 hub/repeater limit also. More details Google "USB extension limit".
But I haven't tried it.

Did the trick
Had to wire a USB webcam to the front of the office so I could see who was coming in from the back of the office where I worked. I tried a wireless router IP camera but that didn't work. A simple, inexpensive webcam seemed the best solution, and this $25 (on sale) cable made that possible. It was about a 75' run above the suspended ceiling. That worked fine. With a little cable management, it looks like a tight installation. It looks like they're out of stock now, which kind of sucks. But if you have a long USB run (max 82'), I would definitely recommend this cable.

Does not work. I constantly lose signal for my mouse. This is currently connected to a swan nvr system. The only way to get my mouse to show up again is to unplug the usb connection at the nvr system.

Video streaming works great!
Had some doubts about using a very long USB 2.0 cable for video streaming from a camera to a PC, but this thing works like a charm. I love the lights used to denote power and the connection. It doesn't seem like any quality is lost in the connection, even when streaming for long periods of time. It has been very reliable so far!

Great Cable at a great price
This worked well. I used it on an Action Cam as a webcam. The camera kept shutting off but I couldn't tell if it was because of the cable or the camera.
