i am kind of confused. if my equipment is mono. will this plug change it so i hear stereo out of the headphones?

BEST ANSWER: You can think of the plug as a 'splitter' that takes the incoming mono track and sends it to the 2 outputs that your stereo plug can read. The sound is still a true 'mono' signal that is now played in both earpieces. Not stereo, but same sound in both ears.

No. What it will do is let you hear sound from the left and right of stereo headphones. It will still be mono, not stereo. If you plug stereo headphones into a mono jack without this adapter, sound will only come out of one side of the headphones

If your equipment is mono and you are plugging in stereo headphones instead of mono headphones, only one ear piece will have sound. This adapter will allow sound from both ear pieces of your stereo headphones.

No it allows both left and right to hear the same signal.with out only one of you head set speaker would work

One audio channel duplicated to left and right
Used this to give audio in both ears where the radio was built for one channel. Perfect fit. Locked into place and worked perfectly.

Odd item needed.
Sometimes you need that odd little item that you never expected. I needed to convert my little headsets to mono, so I could listen to my old TV in my RV which had a mono headphone jack. There you have it. This was exactly what I needed. It was shipped in a timely fashion and it works great.

I used it on a Playstation PS4. I got a "Audio Decoder 5.1 Channel AC3 DTS Decoder" to convert from the digital optical from PS4 to separate Center, Front and Rear outputs. I used this device to put the center 1-channel onto both Left and Right 2-channel.
