Is the blue indio os40 deluxe pro solid wood body?
A shopper
on Mar 3, 2024
BEST ANSWER: Yes these are a solid wood body. Deluxe just means fancy paint or the solid natural body and the Jaguar style vibrato. These have not had a US setup in over a year, they moved the warehouse from California to Kentucky and at that point there was no luthier doing anything. Also for a while before that when they were getting ready for the move nobody was setting anything up.

yes solid wood. I believe Deluxe means pro set-up in the US before shipping to you.
I got the non-deluxe version on sale a while back, it's been great.

Yes, it is solid wood. I assume it is 2 or 3 pieces like many guitar bodies
but it is solid.

Yes, it's solid alder, so it's fairly heavy, but gives a nice tone and sustain.

Yes, it comes with a tremolo bar in the packaging. Don't throw it away! The trem is a tailpiece style (the big metal plate with the bar coming out) similar to classic offset style guitars from years past.

What is the radius? I want to replace the bridge on mine. The specs say 350mm or 13.8" but that doesn't seem right. Many of the options are not adjustable, so it needs to be accurate.
sam a
on Jan 20, 2021
BEST ANSWER: It is 350 mm or 13.77 inches. It is very flat. You will need a 14" roller bridge to replace it. They are fairly easy to find on the online retailer sites, just make sure to dig through the specifications to make sure it is 14 inches.

Does this guitar have the jazzmaster type pickups or do the have the true P90's? I'm thinking on getting this guitar but I don't want a real bright sound. I don't have an offset so I'm thinking on this one.

Does the guitar feedback?

BEST ANSWER: There is a bit of high gain hum using either pickup by itself, but the middle position cancels out the hum similar to a strat in position 2 and 4. The hum isn’t as bad as single coils.

This guitar is better than you think it should be
I have purchased other Indio guitars. I have a Cali 66 and a Boardwalk. They are good guitars for the money. This offset Jaguar type guitar however, is really good. I had to do a bit of a setup but I have had to do that on way more expensive guitars too. So, not a big deal. I reduced the relief in the neck, lowered the pickups, lowered the bridge, installed inexpensive locking tuners and new strings. And guess what? This guitar plays and sounds great. I am really enjoying it and I know others will too. By tje wau. I own 14 guitars and have been playing for over 50 years.

In the end, a good guitar
Almost returned. Be prepared for a material set up. Neck wasnt seated due to screw threads grabbing the neck material, one neck screw was bent slightly, frets were unlevel, rough, sharp ended and some lifted, bridge was really loose fitting. Did a full service on it and replaced the bridge with a better fitting fender mustang version ($20). First Offset and JM tremolo so tried this budget version with some extra discount to get some experience with one. In the end I got it set up really nice and really enjoy it. Preplace 9's with 10's. Bridge takes bends nicely. Dont know about shimming. Seems fine to me. Pickups sound great, not growling but rich, unlike a Strat or Humbuckers. Guitar is very comfortable and balanced at 8.0lbs. Look/finish better than image/expected. Play it all the time now.

Great offset for the price!
Love the guitar. Needed some fret-work to address sharp ends. Replaced the tuners because I wanted an upgrade. Replaced strings as well. The fit/finish was excellent. Got it on sale, so the new tuners did not raise the cost of the normally priced guitar. I got the blue one, the color is much better than the picture on the website.

Punches way above its weight class...
I saw this OS-40 in blue...and it was on sale! How could I say "no"?
Fit and finish are better than expected, the neck and frets feel good. It was obvious that someone had taken the time to set it up as the action and intonation were (mostly) acceptable.
The low-E string's intonation was a bit sharp, and the saddle is maxed out. However, a tiny bit of compromise on the tuning (make it a touch flat) and then the pitches up the string line up nicely.
The pickups far exceed my expectations. They look like P-90's, but I think they are intended to be imitations of the Jazzmaster's soap bar pickups. The product description says that they are supposed to sound somewhere between a single-coil and a humbucker, and I think that is about right.
I think the sound favors the single-coil sound a little more and that is confirmed by playing my other guitar with the humbuckers.
This guitar also comes with a real honest-to-goodness gig bag! It is at best light to medium-duty, but at this price point that is still a massive bonus.
Oh, and it's blue. Daddy digs blue!

For the most part the guitar was a very nice quality the neck was straight didn't find any defects in the Finish overall it's a very nice guitar for the money. The main drawbacks I found with it were the tuners are cheap the strings were a poor quality. And they could do a much better job with the setup before shipping them out. Other than that it's a very nice guitar for the price.
