I just sold my last pair of Yamaha 115v's two weeks ago and never placed those on these stands.
But, they're nice looking and functioning stands and MPs website claims they'll hold 130lbs which, if I remember correctly the Yamahas are around 60lbs each. With weight you should be good and as long as you have the original tophat mounted to those cabs you should be good with fitment too.

I can't see that there would be any problem with them doing so. They are rated to 130lbs, and while my PA speakers I;m using them with are quite light I would suggest that given their build quality the 130lb rating is conservative. Standard speaker pole size, so will fit in all standard pole mount sockets.

I have used this stand with a JBL SRX815p, which is roughly similar in weight to a Yamaha DSR115. It works, but the heavier the speaker you place on it, the less effective the air-assist function. Still helps a little though.
They're worth $40 a pair for sure...

I have worked in the AV field for years and I would say these would fit most any PA speaker. There are some speakers I used years ago that you would need to pull the center pipe out and use the wider bottom end instead to couple the speaker to stand. You could do that with this stand if needed.

Admittedly, I’m not well versed, and have probably only encounter 5 or 6 different sets of speaker stands, but this seems to be a standardized size, based on what ive encountered.

how does the air cushion thing work and where do you access it in the stand?
terry
on Jan 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You don't have to do anything to make the air cushion work. The functionality is just built in to the stands. What it does is prevent the speaker from dropping rapidly if you unscrew the lock that controls the height of the stand. Instead it will gradually lower to the bottom gently. These stands are rock solid and really well made.

The air cushion is part of the mechanism that helps cushion the raising and the lowering of the stand posts. It’s not really something that you access, per se. Honestly is, I’m not really sure why it’s even a feature. You can tell it’s there, because the cushions will hiss with air as you slide the posts up and down, but once you lock the post into place, they seem to add no value.

The columns are like shock absorbers. If you release them with a load on them, they will take 1-2 seconds to collapse, hopefully sparing your speakers and/or your fingers. Raising the speakers to height is still a manual muscle-powered operation.

It is just built in. If you try to lower/retract the extension tube rapidly, air pressure builds up and it lowers slowly and under control. No settings or adjustments to worry about.

BEST ANSWER: The Air cushion just makes it less jarring when you adjust height up or down. There is still a peg which you can (and should!) use to hold the speaker at your selected height. When you take out the peg to adjust height (up or down) you can feel the air resistance from the cushion. It wouldn't be enough resistance to hold the speaker up by itself without the peg.

The air pressure inside the extended tube, bearing the weight of the speaker, cushions the lowering of the speaker. There is no on-board means of pressurizing the tube sufficient enough to raise the tube, with or without the speaker.

BEST ANSWER: I am not familiar with your specific speakers, but I m very pleased with these stands. They are very sturdy, light weight, and durable. You might want to check your speakers mounting means. Generaly, studio monitors are small and designed to simply "sit" on a shelf or similar area. Good luck!

Can I replace the center pole with a mast of my choosing? I have a taller mast that I would like to use with amateur radio?

on May 20, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I wouldn't recommend doing this. Mostly because, I believe if you were to remove the center pole that raises you will
break the seal that is used for the 'air cushion.'
Depending upon your height requirements, you may want to look into 'lighting stands' instead of speaker stands.
They should get you at minimum 8ft height with many going 9, 10 & higher.
Good luck

Decent stands for the money
These are not Ultimate or K & N quality. However, I'd put them on par with On-Stage products with the added benefit of the Air Cushion for lowering speakers.
I purchased a pair about 3-years ago and use them often enough to have a decent take on quality. Stands are one item that I tend to toss around and so far they are holding up pretty well with half storage in a bag and often not. The collars are made of plastic, but so far haven't stripped. The air Cushion is still functioning.
I do use these for cabs that weigh less than 32lbs and have had them extended to ~6.-7' (top of speaker) and felt that they were stable at that height.
I cannot stress this enough (because I'm often surprised by supposed professionals) but please extend the legs out fully when using these and any other stands. (Rant complete . . thank you..)
