The cable/adapter works perfectly. It detected my display and got the resolution right (1920 x 1080). In comparison, an Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter combined with a VGA cable did not get the resolution right and offered only lower-resolutions.

PROS: Usual Monoprice quality good fit and finish.

CONS: In exchange for a very clean and small Mini DisplayPort connector, the adapter parts make the box behind the VGA connector a little longer than the connector on a typical cable. This isn't a problem, exactly, but make sure you have room for this.

This is my second purchase of this monoprice cable. This cable is an excellent solution for those wishing to connect their Mac to any VGA port. I have used this with LCD projectors and TVs. Worked very well with Epson projectors but the contrast with INFocus projectors was poor. I blame the projector. I carried the cable from classroom to classroom and hence it was subject to many connect-disconnect cycles. The previous cable failed after two years where the computer could see the projector but the projector didn't display video. For permanent installation, this probably wouldn't have happened. Regardless, I like the convenience of the cable and have recommended it to several colleagues.

PROS: It plugs directly into monitor. So,you don't need an additional VGA cable and because you don't need the extra VGA cable it does fall out of Macbook port.

CONS: None so far.
