Is this a stereo or mono coupler?

BEST ANSWER: It is a stereo coupler. TRS stands for tip, ring, sleeve. Tip is left, ring is right and sleeve is the commom ground.

This is a stereo coupler. But will work for coupling mono cables. TRS is stereo. TS is mono.

A mono connecter cannot be used for stereo, but can I use a stereo for mono plugs?
Kenneth R
on Dec 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It all comes down to how a jack or plug is wired. Stereo uses tip, ring & sleeve for a total of three conductors. So, tip would typically be left channel of stereo, ring would then be right channel of stereo, sleeve would be common for both. You could wire the plug for mono application by sending mono signal to both tip & ring., sleeve common.

For audio signals, probably would work fine. You weren't specific about exactly what you are trying to do.

Sure, mono cables will just go through the tip rather than the ring.

BEST ANSWER: It's only purpose is to join two 1/4" audio connections together. That could be two 1/4" cables. If your speakers have those connections it should work perfectly.

This is used as an extension for guitar cords as in 1/4 mail stereo to 1/4 male stereo. Probably works fine for mono connections..

I can't stand face panel inputs on current audio interface. It's terrible for cable flow and appearance.
However, this is the perfect solution for extending snake points with right angle patch cables for minimalistic aesthetic.

Best 1/4 inch TRS adapters.
Works great, looks great, and great pricing. And very tight fit.
I have about 8 of them.
Can never have enough adapters in a music studio.
I use them in lieu if a patch bay.

Solid, and does what it must
Not much more to say than the title- this coupler delivers what it must, and is very solidly built. A questioner asked if it works in mono, and the answer is, yes it certainly does.

I found this noisy and unreliable
One of the rare times I have had trouble with a monoprice cable. This coupler produced a lot of noise in my signal and the connection seemed to drop.
