I need to replace the power cord for my pool cleaner. It currently is a 300V 18AWG. Will this work?

BEST ANSWER: 16 AWG is heavier gauge wire than your 18 AWG, but 1625 Watts at 13 Amps means that it is only rated for 125 Volts at full current. So it depends on whether your pool cleaner runs on more than 125 Volts or how much power it actually takes. Power(Watts) = Voltage x Current (Amps). So if you are using 220 or 240 Volts, you can only use 7 Amps of current or else you would exceed the 1625 Watts of power rating. If you are using 120 Volts, you can use the 13 Amps of current and still be okay. The specification of your pool cleaner should tell you how much power it requires. Stay under 1625 Watts, or get a higher-rated power cord.

It depends on the length form the receptacle and the cleaner. Also how much current or Wattage the pool cleaner is. Loon on the cleaner and there should be a label telling the the electrical information. To be on the safe side I would use a # 16 or #14 gauge cable. A # 18 is about the same size as a table lamp cable.
