Does this have any sort of battery bank built in so you can leave it running a bit before having to plug in, or does it require constant power?
A shopper

BEST ANSWER: The fridge works like anything you have plugged into your lighter for power. As long as the car is running or the key is engaged (ex: parked but listening to the radio) it will draw power and cool. Once the key is removed it slowly begins to warm again. I put a layer of reusable ice blocks at the bottom and set the temperature just below freezing. That way all the goods stay cool overnight but I need to charge it again in the morning (start the car and run the engine for a while). It doesn't draw any power once the key is removed. It's not quite what I thought it was, but works well using it as described.

No it does not have any sort of battery backup. It does have a battery voltage monitor that will shut off the unit if the battery voltage drops in order to not deplete your your car battery to the point that the car will not start. So, therefore it does need constant power.

How many amps does this draw? I want to use a solar panel on my Pontoon boat to keep battery charged. It says it draws 45watts 3.75 amps I think 45watts/12V=3.75amps

BEST ANSWER: My "Refrigerator" (this one) pulls around 32 watts on DC power, so it pulls about 2.7 amps when it is running. That is with the internal temp set to 35 degrees.
On AC, it pulls about 57 to 60 watts when it is running. also set at 35 degrees.
It took over 30+ hours to drain my 78,000mAh (288Wh) power station on DC power. I was opening the lid at least once an hour.
On AC power from the same power station, the power station was drained in about 20 hours.

True, but that's full demand and only while it's cooling. Most of the time, it's using miliwatts.

Renewablewise has a good page on how many batteries to run a refrigerator. You'll have to search it yourself because links aren't allowed in the answers.
It also reinforces your calculation for amps, and estimates the refrigerator will run about a third of the time (eight hours a day).
Bottom line, they recommend a 60 Ah lead-acid or 40 Ah lithium battery for 24/7 use.

@12v rated operating voltage DC 4.5 amps
Rated operating current 3.0 amps.
I have been using it for a week now, it is very efficient and you can reduce the load if needed with eco mode.
I think you may have a problem with keeping it dry on a pontoon boat. It has vents on the bottom edges and would have to be kept below.

BEST ANSWER: Hello and thank you for your question. You would press and hold the Settings button, displayed as a gear, for about 1 second and release to show the word TEMPERATURE flashing on the display. Then using the Plus or Minus (+ or -) buttons, set the desired temperature. Then you can choose to press and hold the Settings button for about 1 second again to save the desired temperature or allow to save it on its own after 10 seconds of inactivity. I had issues setting the temperature as well and realized "eco" mode doesn't allow setting a temperature, it seems to just keep it at 39 degrees. I changed the setting to "max" and was then able to set the temperature to whatever I wanted. Might be something to check on yours and for future users.

Terrible Handles
Refrigerator is fine. quiet. Keeps things cold, but the handles are useless. Once loaded there is a good chance people are going to drop this thing. Strongly suggest getting one with exterior handles
flat handle with no lip or angle upwards to give better grip. Maybe .5" deep. Slick surface

Very nice unit
I like this unit, my only problem is that the corner opposite the electronics frequently detaches from the body. you have to wiggle it to get it back in place so it will close properly.
This has happened more than 5 times in the 2-3 weeks I have had it.
It cools things very quickly and makes almost no noise when the compressor kicks on.

Good cooler
I have not had a chance to use this cooler yet, but I plugged it in and saw that it cooled down. The interior of the cooler is not as large as I hoped, but I have to keep telling myself that I don't need space for ice. The cooler is fairly quiet, and empty although not light, it is not too heavy. The build quality seems adequate and has kind of a utilitarian look. One feature I wanted and the cooler had was a latch for the lid. One thing that may explain why some people had problems with the cooler is that the instructions on setting the temperature is wrong. After fiddling a while, I realized that when they said you needed to press the button for one second, you actually had to press the button for less than a second.

Nice portable refrigerator
This refrigerator arrived on time. The packaging was excellent. I used it for one camping weekend trip. It worked well, however I found the controls are a bit awkward. You must follow the instructions for switching between the different functions, holding the button for three seconds after you reach the next function.

Just tap the power button
It works but the instructions are not so good. I pressed the power button for one second and the unit did not work. Tried many times and no go. So I decided to return the unit. I had thrown away the box. The only way I could easily get a new box was to order a new unit from Monoprice. I got a new unit and the same thing happened to the new fridge. So I called Monoprice and while talking to the representative and going thru the instructions I just tapped the power button and the unit came on and worked. So just tap the power button. Now I have to return one of the units and they are not light.
