Also, what is "Espresso"? If it's just another word for "black", that's fine. If not, please describe.

It's a very dark brown but really looks black under most lighting conditions.

It is not black, but more of a very dark brown wood-ish finish.

I see a short metal plate/strip screw-mounted a the back of the bottom shelf. I assume that we can skip mounting it, correct? Are the poles solid or hollow? If hollow, can we fill it with damping material such as sand, etc? Thanks.

BEST ANSWER: Yes. the screw-mounted "short metal plate/strip" is not needed to support the structural integrity of the shelf unit and therefore can be omitted from the build.
While the round poles are hollow, the ends are closed with a threaded opening for the threaded bolts that are used to connect the poles above and below the shelves. The threaded opening should be large enough allow sand to be poured into the poles.

The short metal plate on the bottom is not necessary. I put mine on just because, but it is more than likely so items just do not get pushed off from the front. Also the poles are metal and are hollow. I am sure at least the way I assembled mine you should be able to pack them with some kind of insulation. I did not deem that necessary.

You don’t have to add the back plate to the bottom shelf. I didn’t. The polls are hollow but capped with metal threaded plates for the screws. I suppose you could try and get sand down in there, but it would be a chore assembling it, but plausible/possible . Enter an answer to this question.

Can you add casters to the feet ???
A shopper

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your inquiry. Adding casters is generally safe mechanically, but it does change stability and weight distribution. Any modification will also void the product's warranty.

Yes you can. I believe they took an M8 sized screw for the casters.

Can this be assembled without the bottom legs? And how tall are those bottom legs. My problem is this is too tall by 8.25 inches.

BEST ANSWER: Yes you can, however the bottom legs are only 5.25” tall so it might not work for you.

Specs & instructions don't say: Are the adjustable feet on this stand made of a cushioned, non-marring material?

You said casters could be used do you put casters on all six feet ???
A shopper
on Jan 30, 2026
BEST ANSWER: I did not use casters on my version. I totally eliminated the short legs and allowed the bottom shelf to lay on the floor. I did use some easy gliders under each post to allow the unit to be easily moved away from the wall on carpet. Due to the weight of the shelving and the potential added weight of the equipment, six casters would be necessary.

My center channel speaker is 7" tall x 32" wide with its tweeter at dead center. What's the impact on the load capacity of the top shelf if this is assembled w/o the front center tube dividing the middle shelf?
Paul

Is it possible to get additional tubes? For example, I would like to get another set of the short tubes to lower the overall height of the shelves.

Great stand!
Looks great in the room, functions exactly as advertised. This is the third stereo/AV stand I've bought from Monoprice and the quality for the price is tough to beat.

Great Quality, and can be configured!
I had been looking for this specific AV stand during Xmas but could not find it in Espresso or Black. I bought the maple kit and I am customizing that one.... Coming soon. This Espresso kit is very nice and is exactly what I wanted. I have a TX-RZ70 Onkyo receiver that was too long for my previous stand and would not clear the back. This stand allows a full open back for wires and ventilation. I built my stand with the 12" shelf on the 2nd tier (middle), not on the first (bottom). This kit will let you configure it either way. At first I did not put the metal slat on the back thinking it would get in the way of the wires attaching to the receiver, but it didn't. So, I added this to prevent the receiver from being pushed off the back during cleaning. I have uneven tile flooring. All six feet are adjustable. I was able to easily level the stand using my short and long levels. I was able to lie over the top of the stand and wire in the stereo with my dual subwoofer and 9.2 speaker setup. With me and the receiver that stand easily support all +300lbs. I watch a lot of movies in the dark, so clean, simple and functional is what this AV stand offers me, and I am very pleased. The shelves are a nice MDF 1 inch thick. The poles are metal and easily support each shelf. I don't mind owning 2 of these. When I am done customizing these 2 stands, I will update the post. Thanks Monoprice for letting me know these were back in stock. 5 Stars, and excellent price!

Met my expectation and some!
Monolith by Monoprice Heavy Duty Double-Wide 3-Tier AV Stand, 47.2" Wide, Espresso. It's so sturdy and big enough for my audio equipment. It's easy to put together, but it's quite heavy.

Awesome stand
This is a great looking stand which was easy to assemble and very solid. Can withstand the weight of my equipment with no problem. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. The only issue I had was one of the metal post's was scuffed up in shipping, but was able to mount that on the back of the stand where you can not see it. Not the fault of the manufacturer. As you can see in the picture it looks amazing!
Great looking stand!

Just what I was looking for!
Getting back into vinyl records, I needed a solid and level stand for not only the turntable, but all the equipment. Stumbled across this (ON SALE, YAY!!) and 3 day delivery (YAY again). This stand is SOLID, and perfect for my needs. Turntable and Multi-CD player on top, Amp and Preamp on the 2nd shelf, and the growing collection of albums on the bottom. Sturdy and level. Very quick and easy to assemble (but be warned...IT'S HEAVY...get help). Open design allows for air flow and easy cable/wire connection and management. I'll try to add a picture later.

Really good audio rack!
Solid and heavy rack, which is what I needed for audio gear. Easy assembly, clear directions provided. May be the best rack available for the money spent. One request would be to offer spike feet with this rack.

Solid build, great self spacing
Needed an A/V rack with good spacing between shelves. This rack had much better spacing than most any other AV racks that I looked at and didn't cost and arm and a leg. Arrived in perfect condition, very well packaged. Assembly was straight forward, and I liked that they have you assemble it upside down ... all in, took about 25 - 30 minutes from opening the box to flipping the finished build over and sliding it in place. Very solid, I have heavy tube based components, the integrated tub amp is 69 lbs, no issues with this rack. All-in-all, couldn't be happier. Very Highly Recommended ... I'll be buying another one.
Looks great, more importantly, my gear fits. Very solid build ... will be buying another one.

Great Rack at a Great Value!
This hifi rack is excellent. My McIntosh integrated weighs nearly 75 lbs, so I needed something that could support it. This definitely fit the bill! Would highly recommend for anyone needing a sturdy rack that will not break the bank. Very stout and solid once assembled.
