Do you use shielded RJ45 jacks with the S/FTP cable, and would this product support full 10G speeds? Is there any notable downside vs. full STP? This would be for a home install.

BEST ANSWER: Hey Jason,
I purchased this last year while performing a home upgrade installation. I used shielded keystones on the patch panel side that went to a ground, but I have read that you only need to ground it on one side. So I don't believe you will want to use shielded RJ45 jacks. If its for a patch cable you can use shielded RJ45 on both ends but if its going to a patch panel on one side and a wall outlet or 1 gang wall plate I would use unshielded on that side.
In short its best to shield and ground on one side to minimize interface. The longest run I made with this cable was close to 100ft which Cat6 non A can still do 10GB but I still went with Cat6A which can do 10GB up to 300ft just to future proof. IMO I don't believe full STP is worth it unless you are in an environment were you are running Ethernet along side 10/12 gage wire or 240v in a long distance. STP will also be harder to work with due to each pair being shielded.
Hopefully this helps as I bought this product to future proof my home installation and to guarantee the best application of ethernet in my house, even if most will think its overkill and unnecessary.

Hello
I don't see any real loss as I am using this for home install as well. Not that much going on right now in terms of devices as well the ISP truncates everything at this point. I use the CommScope RJ45 they have a system that I feel is really good and covers all the bases. So as far a shielding is concerned you don't normally have that much interference on the end of the lines, I find the interference is in length of runs and if they are next to or cross sources that would cause that interference

This cable isnt shielded. It does support 10G. The augmented cable separator in the middle keeps the twisted pares apart to prevent cross talk. I have cat6a in my whole house. None of my cable is sheilded, nor are my connections sheilded, and i get full 10G.

Most of my cabling is inside the house, but I have one run I need to do outside along the siding of my house. Would cable be okay to use? (it's about 20ft of wiring outside of the house)

BEST ANSWER: Yes, it’s weatherproof and shielded so should be good to go. Can’t guarantee wildlife doesn’t chew through it though.

I used this exact cable along about 40 feet of my house and then a few runs under my deck to some outdoor WiFi access points. No issue on my end. It has survived rain, excessive heat and kept its color for about a year now.

I'd recommend something that is specifically UV resistant instead. PVC jacket deteriorates pretty quickly in the sun.

What is the diameter of the inner conductors? I'm trying to buy some RJ45 jacks, and I wanted to make sure they work for this cable.

BEST ANSWER: I bought the Klein VDV826-705 pass-thru connectors, and they work great. The wires and jackets are thicker on this so the standard connectors won't fit - I tried. Get the Klein crimper VDV226-110 and it makes the job much easier.

pleased with the price
Great sale price for this Very robust cable. It is difficult to get a standard RJ-45 connector on it though. I would definitely recommend pass through connectors.

Legit CAT6A cable
Legit CAT6A cable. Thick solid copper wires surrounded by a single foil with a drain wire.
Word of advice: just be sure you actually need 6A instead of regular 6, because this is some thick cable and dealing with that, grounding scenarios, shielded connectors and jacks is a whole other ball game!

Good Cat6a roll for inside walls.
Good stuff. A little stiff on bends like others say. Also make sure you have the correct 6a connectors. Cat6 is too small for the twisted strands to terminate inside.

Just what I was looking for
Pretty nice cable, no problems installing. I was looking for cat6a that had the outer shield with a drain conductor between it and the plastic film, so this was it.
It's flexible, but only so much; I never wired with cat6a before and saw lots of concerns about it. I used low voltage boxes that are open at the rear, so flexibility wasn't much of an issue. I would buy it again.

Glad I went with Monoprice
Used cable to connect modem in one room to pc in another room (150 feet away). Worked perfectly. Very high quality cable. FWIW, this was my first time doing this.
