Would this work for a pa system or just is it mainly for install work?

BEST ANSWER: I don't think I'd use this cabling for a PA. I've hooked it up to my home stereo, which has worked great. But for a PA, you probably want a much heavier gauge. I'd imagine the PA speakers have speakon or xlr connectors?

It will work for pretty much any speaker needs, but it is a four wire cable typically used for a two channel or stereo signal.

Can confirm it is indeed 4 conductor and picture is not correct. Has Red, Black, White, and Green wires inside black sheath.

why is the black sheath so much cheaper than the white sheath?

BEST ANSWER: The two have different ratings. CL2 and CL3 which determines the voltage each can carry. CL3 being a higher voltage rating thus higher price because of the insulation used on the conductors and sheath.

Top quality all copper speaker wire.
I have used this wire to power my Polk RC6 stereo input speakers throughout my home. I needed some more speaker wire to power my Polk outdoor speakers that are placed under the eves of my house and once again I am not disappointed. This wire is so non-restrictive that my Sony Stereo that is powering the ten stereo input Polk speakers does not require an amplifier. Matter of fact the stereo only gets mildly warm on the top when it should be hot running ten of these speakers. It's a steal at this price and you won't be disappointed purchasing this quality speaker wire.
