BEST ANSWER: It sounds like you are trying to connect a 2.5mm plug to a female RCA input by converting the plug to an RCA male. This adapter won't work for you. It converts a male F-type plug (commonly used with coaxial cables) into a male RCA plug, which is not the kind of adapter you need. There are many 3.5mm to RCA adapters (y-adapters converting a two-conductor mini plug to two RCA plugs), but 2.5mm to RCA are more challenging to find. If you are converting strictly mono-to-mono audio, search for "2.5mm male mono plug to RCA male cable or adapter." There are also three-conductor 2.5mm plugs that transmit stereo audio with video from a camcorder. You can still find cables that convert that single plug to three RCA plugs.

NO. This plug converts a F-Connector (Coax cable - typically used for video or antennas) to a male RCA. Momoprice sells a 3.5mm female to RCA Male adapter BUT you will also will need a 2.5mm female to 3.5 male adapter.
Also, many times the 2.5 or 3.5 phone plug could be stereo. In the case the 2/5 or 3.5mm plug would convert to TWO RCA male plugs (one for left channel and one for the right channel). To determine if your plug is mono or stereo, just countthe bands on the plug. Two = mono, three = stereo.
Good luck.

This is used to adapt RG-6/RG-59 cable with a "F" connector to a RCA male end. It would be better to get a crimp-on or solder-on RCA connector and fabricate a "hybrid" cable.

Definitely not; this adapter goes from RCA (as shown) to a coaxial F-connector (that’s a cable connector, you can see the threads in the image), not a 2.5mm mini-jack.

If the plating is gold, is the body of the connector brass, or zinc?

thin metal expands too easy
adapter does what it is supposed (change from RG59 to RCA ) but the quality is low. the RCA side fins are too easily expanded making a loose connection. When you try to re-bend them tighter, the fins break off.

Works Perfectly
I got two of these to put on a fairly long run of RG6 to a powered subwoofer in the back of the room. Everything works perfectly with no hum or distortion.

Works with my 5.1 pre-wiring.
I moved into a new home and the builders of my house did 5.1 pre-wiring and used a partially-prepared coax cable for the wiring of the subwoofer, where they used an F to RCA female adapter wall plate. The end that would need to be connected to my receiver was just a cut cable. My setup involved a 5.1 wall plate that included female RCA on both sides, so I ended up getting a coax cable stripper, an F-type twist on, then connected that to this, and this into the 5.1 wall plate (so this is now inside my wall on the other side of the 5.1 wall plate), then just ran a regular RCA from the wall plate to my receiver. No complaints. Works just as intended and works just as well as a straight-up RCA connection to the subwoofer.
