BEST ANSWER: Just to clarify, when you say “another! Power supply” do you mean a replacement power supply? I only ask because only one the the units requires power. After you plug it in it powers the other unit via the Cat 6 cable.

This should come with one power supply, and you can put that on either transmitter or receiver. Once you run the data, (Cat5, Cat5e, or Cat6) that will carry power to the other end.

it only comes with one power supply because that is all you need. The transmitter end injects the power over the ethernet and that is how the receiver gets power.

The receiver gets it's power from the transmitter using Power Over Ethernet, so once you connect them together you should not need a power supply for the receiver?

Does the extender require a continuous cable connection (like connecting through a wall plate or joining two cables) or will it only work with a single straight cable?

This unit absolutely sends audio over HDMI (via Ethernet cable). I've been extremely satisfied with the performance of this product. It connects a receiver upstairs with a flat-screen TV downstairs. In the past I tried two different HDMI repeaters over a 50-foot HDMI cable. None of them worked. But this Blackbird HDBaseT Extender works flawlessly.

This does have audio signal over HDMI. 3.5mm audio jack can be used to connect to sound bar or other audio device, but is not needed to get audio.

Just confirming this won't work bring routed, correct? I have cat8 running through the house but via switches upstairs and downstairs. It would need to travel through 4 switches instead of 1 single cat cable. That's a no go right? Thank you!

What is the maximum bandwidth for this when used with cat6a ethernet cables? 18 Gbps or 10 Gbps? If 18 Gpbs is the bandwidth, how is that possible with cat6a supporting a maximum of 10 Gbps? Or have I misunderstood cat6a?

BEST ANSWER: 18gbs isn't the network/data transmission speed. You would never even get video in your home if that was the case. . data compression is used between the units and then the extender pushes 18gbps through hdmi to your tv.

HDBaseT 3.0 supports both eArc and 18Gps. First lookup spec, then make accusations.
As someone who just purchased the device (running with a 50ft Cat6 cable), I can confirm it works with ARC. I have had problem with Dolby Atmos, but I'm not confident that this isn't a problem with my audio equipment. Other multi channel formats have been fine.
For the record regarding 18Gps, no problems outputting 4K 60Hz 4:4:4 or 4K 60Hz 4:2:2 HDR from my PS4. Also no problems with Dolby Vision/UHD BDs.

Best extenders we've found
We had heaps of problems with Gefen extenders, as well as Tripp-Lite extenders that we had high hopes for and had to return because they just refused to work. This affordable extender worked far better, and has been stable for months.
Note: I haven't tested 4K or HDR10+ capabilities with those units. We use them (currently) to extend PC monitors at 1920x1080, 8-bit, 60Hz, 4:4:4.
Oh and the local loop-out feature on the Tx unit is great!

To make a long story short, I got 4 of these kits in 2 shipments. Each kit only had one each IR emitter and receiver. The kits are supposed to have 2 of each. Finally I was told to cannibalize one of the kits and send the other 3 back. The one that I now am using works great. Whoever made those kits either got the wrong instructions or failed to follow the instructions or whoever wrote the description should have said 1 of eac.all your kits are wrong

Works great and easy install!
My entertainment company that installed my system provided a 4k extender but it did neither hdr or Dolby Vision and I was told it was a limitation of my Denon AV receiver. Well after a few good hours of research on my own I found their answer to be hogwash and ordered these. Once the arrived unboxed them, plugged them in, and worked like a charm. So to the so called experts a little reading and research and you can probably make your customers a lot happier.

Very solid long-range HDBaseT extender
Definitely provides the longer range -- I have another Monoprice HDBaseT system (the 8x8 matrix), which works great at the listed ranges, but had one location that exceeded the specified length for that device, so would not work for 4K. This unit supports the longer run, and works great. Would definitely recommend for those long runs!
As an aside, this also runs cooler than the previous generation Monoprice stand-alone HDBaseT extenders, so all around, very happy.
