Can someone explain why you would need 4 conductor speaker wire?
Tauran I
on Dec 8, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yea, unlike something like low voltage landscape lighting where you just have a + and -, speakers have a right and left channel. So green and red would be the left channel and black and white would be the right channel. Now the colors don’t matter at all, they just must match when it returns to the receiver.

If you have multiple speakers that you need to run write to .. personally I have 4 that I need to make long runs to, so instead of running 4 separate wires, I can run 2 4 conductor weird and then split them off and needed

You can use it to bi-wire speakers, or run one piece of wire to say a right speaker in a stereo pair, and from there to the left use 2 conductor wire, or the unused pair of conductors in this wire.

I used it to run 2 channels from my receiver to my back deck. I also used it to run to a 2-channel wall plate that I'm connecting both my upper left and upper right speakers to

I have multiple speakers running down one wall. The 4 conductor wire gets me to the first speaker & allows me to continue the next run using additional 2 conductor wire.

You need to run this from your source to a volume control / per room / pair of speakers. From your volume control you run a 2 paired wire to each speaker.

You can use it to run from your stereo to a volume control. Then from the volume control you would use 2 conductor to go to your speakers.

Run one cable a long distance and split off to left and right at the final location instead of running 2 separate cables

Can this speaker wire be run with ethernet cable in same conduit without any electrical interference?
Kalpesh G
on Jul 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I did not do that but I would think it could, especially if the Ethernet cable is well shielded. With respect to electrical wire, I read somewhere it should be 12” minimum when running parallel with speaker wire but they can be crossed perpendicularly. Following the electric wire rules for Ethernet cable should work great. Or, just ask a qualified installer about the conduit. Probably not too helpful. Good luck!

In theory, yes there will always be interference. In practice, though, since ethernet is very low voltage, high frequency, differential signaling, you won't actually hear anything. I ran two of these speaker wires next to two CAT6 ethernet cables, and there aren't any problems.

This cable is not shielded. No additional EMI protection is provided that would enable it to perform better than standard speaker cable in this regard.

Through some internet research (which you can do also) as long as the ethernet is "shielded" no problem and even if not you should be fine!

I am not an electrician, but I believe there is a strong reason why this is called "SPEAKER WIRE" and ROMEX wire (very different) is used for electric circuits. An obvious difference is solid copper wires in ROMEX and braied wire in SPEAKER WIRE...and also the shielding between the wires in ROMEX vs speak wires are relatively unshielded.

Check with a licensed electrician. My expectation is that this speaker cable is not rated for in-wall household power service.

Wiring outdoor speaker, were does the green and white wires connect to the positive or negative?
A shopper
on Jul 8, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Unless your dual amping the speaker, you may have chosen a more expensive wire than needed. You can either not use the green and white or twist the copper of the green together with the red and the white with the black and then you will have a larger equivalent conductor. I used this cable to run from my home theater closet to a wall plate for my dual amped front speakers and for a wall plate with a pair of surround speakers. Also, there may be better suited to outdoor use if water or UV exposure is expected.

As long as you use the same color under the red connector on the speaker and the red connector on the amp it does not matter. I usually use green as my positive in my jobs to keep it the same. good luck

Solid cable!
Great cable! It's really thick, so be aware of that, but it's not too stiff and it's easy to work with.

12 guage wire
Very heavy guage wire. The outside sheeting on this wire does not seem as rugged as my last order. be careful pulling it against roof truss metal edges. Very nice product if pulled correctly.

stranded, but "solid"
Heavy gauge means I don't worry about losses over long runs, stranded means it's easy to pull. Tough cover helps ensure against minor dings and scrapes during installation. All in all, a nice quality cable for all your 4-conductor speaker and other low-voltage needs.

excellent wire, exactly as described
The cable is exactly as described. I used it in my media room to run cable to each speaker location in the room, yes, I needed two pair at each location for bi-amping the speakers.

Gosh 250ft is heavy!
plumbed the stuff for two outdoor speakers on my new patio back to my Yamaha dual zone amp.
works a treat- very pleased just a bit cross with myself as I ordered waaaay too much cable- less than 100ft would have been fine. will just have to find some more projects for audio in the house-
PROS: decent quality robust and well constructed
CONS: none
